 |
|
So here goes my story of earlier in the day. I pop into High wycombe to get a spark plug wrench, bread and Nutella. The essentials you see. I also have my new Go Pro Camera to test out again. Foolishly I didn't attach it on the way there.
I get the necessities and then I start making my way home. Medium heavy traffic. Pull out of the swan car park and head over the flyover fridge. Now in my mirrors I can see blue lights. They seem quite high up so it's either an Ambulance or a van. I assume it's a van and it's for me so I carry on normally.Or at least I try. Get on to the roundabout and 2 cars move over 2 lanes to the left without any indication or anything and nearly knocking me off. Thank god for shellgrip and warm sticky tyres. I trust my camera caught nit on video so I can see it later at home. Anyways I get to the set of traffic lights in between 2 cars. Police van comes closer with lights on, car to my right moves over and van pulls next to me. They ask me to pull over after the junction when the lights go gren. And so I do.
Pull over, turn the bike off, put it on the sidestand. Get off. Gloves off, and halfway through taking my helmet off. One officer gets out and starts speaking to me at which point I say "Sorry officer, hold on a second as I can't hear you through trying to take my helmet of" He waits a couple of seconds until I put my helmet on the tank and then he starts talking.
"There's quite a few things wrong with this bike isn't there?"
"The exhaust has been falling apart and I've been meaning to replace it. It's just it's my only form of transport and I need the bike to get to and from work and saving up for the exhaust isn't easy (which is true). It is far too loud for my liking and I'm replacing it ASAP"
"And your tyre. It's nearly at the legal limit!
"It may be close but it's still legal"
"Numberplate is too small"
"Although it can be read at a distance of 20.5 metres (as per guidelines) and read by your ANPR system"
"Well, yes there is that... We also noticed you were riding up people's arses. No doubt with that bike the brakes are quite shoddy now and you'd fall off trying to brake!"
"Err excuse me? I've been on the road for 2 minutes. I have not been behind a car. I've been filtering. Did you notice the 2 cars that moved over 2 lanes and nearly smashed into me? Also, the brakes are really good on this bike. You can try them out if you like"
"Well, we didn't see the 2 cars. We just noticed your riding"
"Well my camera here will have evidence of me not being up any cars arse and the 2 cars that nearly hit me" (only reason I pointed this out was because I know there wasn't any incriminating evidence whatsoever )
"well I suppose we can take a look"
Plug it in. Shows me starting the bike up in the car park. Shows me exiting the car park. Doing all my shoulder checks, braking in time, indicating and most importantly not being up on any cars arse (although showing several cars doing so) and then the 2 cars that nearly knocked me off.
"Right I see now. Sorry to have troubled you. We've taken notes of the cars registration and makes. Do however change the exhaust ASAP" (both a little bit red, although it could've been the cold) Unfortunately at this point they delete the video
"most definately will do"
"ride safe"
"Always do officers. Thank you"
They did head off in the direction the cars went. But so glad I had no incriminating evidence whatsoever on my camera.

I wasn't rude, I didn't incriminate myself. Apart from the exhaust being loud which to be fair... I can't really shut up about it.
It's the 400 in the background.Just look at that Black Hole! Also, that's the old numberplate. I've got a new one on there.

wow so you can't get done for a number plate if it can be read at 20.5 metres. nice use of vpnr or whatever. i gotta use that.
glad they didn't do anything to you. seems like you showed them enough knowledge and maybe they would be scared to get appealed and have to do paper work :p ____________________ Hit the G spot. |

Erm pretty soonish anti terrorism powers state that you are only allowed to take pictures of police when they give you permission.. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Itchy I think that's already in order. From what I read recently Police can delete photos if they think they are for an act of terrorism. I wanted to know this so I know where I stand if they want to delete photos.
I was with LukeVFR taking pictures of Dartford Bridge and Police pulled up asking why we were taking pictures and said we can't take them as it's a terrorist target or something. Lucky whilst he was talking it was on a 30 second exposure and the picture came out quite well |
