Itunes anger and query.

Why will Ipods not play songs dragged into their exporer window, why, what solitary reason other than making people subject to the MIRE of shit that is Itunes could there possibly be.

I HATE apple for this, I refuse to own iPods as they insist upon themselves, however, my good chum who has no computer has received one for christmas, and I now have the task of putting songs on it for him.

MUST I use itunes? or is there another way? I so hate being forced to do something I really do not ever need to.

Unless of course I DO need to because of their cunting ways!

Because ipods can be used as file storage/portable HD in effect, if you just drag and drop them in WE then it just see's it as a random file and not as music.

Itunes isn't hard to use at all, i can't understand why people hate it so much . Anyway, basically you have to use Itunes, i think there maybe a few other alternatives out there but can't imagine them being much different.

The ipod doesn't use mp3 i don't think, it uses its own retarded format (called h324 or something daft)

The iPod accepts both MP3 and AAC, neither of which are owned by Apple.

Difference is, if you've enabled your iPod for Disk Use, you just drag-and-drop and it's storage through Windows Explorer, nothing more.

If you operate through iTunes, it uses Apple's own file structure, puts music in hidden folders, and makes it very difficult for you to get at.

Basically, you need iTunes for putting the music on, as Apple lock down their products - if it was just drag-and-drop for music, like a £5 MP3 stick/dongle from Tesco, then iTunes wouldn't be necessary ... and no iTunes means no iTunes Music Store ... and Apple enjoys making money from the iTMS.

The iPod is about a good user interface - and the sacrifice for that, is using iTunes. I enjoy iTunes myself, but would also like to be able to drag-and-drop like the £3 USB player/stick I use when off-roading.

iTunes for music, Windows Explorer for merely using as a disk drive, when plugged into the PC. Sorry for the long post, hope it helps

i use a music player called winamp to put all my music onto my ipod, as i do not like itunes.

Ah, I forgot you could use WinAmp, I haven't used that in years! Still know many many people who swear by it, though. I tend to use iTunes on my MacBook, and on the PC... and Amarok on Linux, although I use VLC on all 3 platforms for video playback (unrelated, but it's a useful piece of software)

I seem to remember I needed some kind of unlocking hack to be able to import non-itunes MP3s onto my Nano.

Whatever it was I did, the iTunes software is a piece of convoluted counter-intuitive shite.
