Hi,

It says the original undertray would need trimming. I don't think it would be that difficult, especially if it came with instructions on where to trim and maybe a stencil.

If it doesn't come with instructions though, Just figure out where it needs to be trimmed and take a little off at a time until it fits nicely.

I'd be careful with that specific website though as they're a bit vague on the colour so the colour you get may not be a colour match on the blue hornet you have. I think it's better to have black if you can't get an exact colour match because otherwise it just looks a bit silly as it's a little off.

so you think that I'll get it black and match here, good idea alun. i was thinking that they will know what blue is the 99 hornet but I'm taking your advise, better not risk it. about the fitting i don't think that there will be a lot of work but as this is the first time I'm doing some mods to it I'm worried, but I'll give it a go, most that can happen is that I'll have to order another one Smile

You can also get undertrays on ebay, white ones from portugal. I'm not sure of the quality though, so the risk is your's.

You wouldn't have to order a new one if made a mistake trimming. It's the original undertray you trim - i.e the black plastic that your toolkit etc sits in.

it's true on e-bay they are very cheap but I'm afraid of the quality, and no twin lights so it's better to pay a bit more and be satisfied. now alun i think that i have trim the original mudguard, at least that what they said on their website, have a look i just copied and paste it here "The twin light undertray is manufactured in bay blend an automotive grade abs, it replaces the original light unit with two round lights. Requires trimming of original mudguard assembly, it comes with fitting guide and any required fixings. This item may vary from the colour shown as image is for visual example only

Yes the original undertray can also be called the "mudguard". Mudguard must not be mistaken for hugger though.

This is the bit you'd be expecting to have to trim:

about the hugger i know what it is cause when i bought mine (8/11/08) it was fitted with it although in black paint don't know why. so I'm assuming that i have to remove the original and fix the new one, is it? tried to post you a picture of the bike but no success

Colour matched stuff is a lot more expensive, and it's a matter of taste. I have a 2000 model blue hornet and I have a black hugger fitted to it (as you can see in my avatar).

When you say remove the original are we talking about the undertray here?

If so... no... just trim it.

it's true i prefer mine all blue, in fact in the future i would like to make a belly pen, rad cover, foot rests and a cowl seat and small things in blue but not too much. yes we're talking about the original one, Ok so it's just a trim that's all?

Yes, just a trim. I think the new undertray will screw onto the old one. You leave the old one in place, but in order to fit the new one you have to trim the old one a little.

hmmm now i know what you mean, so it shouldn't be that much of a headache and with the instructions provided things should be easier. i think yes i need to leave the old one in place cause of the things like tools there will be no place for them
