Get a sat nav and find out.

Or a stop watch and a known length of road.

Probably indicates 75 / 85mph. Wont be doing anywhere near that.

I had £1400 worth of MHR engine and Polini parts strapped to my old Speedfight. The clocks indicated 0mph (Yes, The needle did a full 360 of the dash). My Sat nav indicated 71.2mph recorded top speed down hill.

70-80MPH* on a bike designed to do 30 is gonna be a bit mental ... I am not sure the scooter will scale up speed wise too well???

I don't fancy doing that sort of speed feet-first!!! Shocked

*with a 70cc kit, I'd be very surprised if it does any more than 60odd mph ACTUAL speed. ... when I was a yoof, I had a 65cc kit on my TS50X ... it indicated 65 at times, so that was prolly 50-55 in real life. Hence guessing your mates is unlikely to be doing more than 60-65.

I had to fit higher speed rating tyres on the Speedy. Also fitted brace bars in the foot well, And rear disk from a Speedfight 100cc.

Once I had the wheels balanced, It sat at 65/70mph quite comfortably.

Depends on the model; some use the same basic chassis as the 125cc+ versions I believe; so should be able to handle higher speeds as good as a scooter can.

You could measure engine RPM
Factor in Transmission/final drive ratio/Wheel Inch which should tell you exactly distance travelled per meter.

Or Buy a 20 quid cycle computer and compare that.

Or what difference does it make?

Delia Smith's 2nd Law of Summer fruit pudding mixes states that: If it feels fast then it must be fast.

Speed is relative, and 65mph on a 50cc scooter feels a fuck lot faster than 150 on a sports tourer.

Don't worry about the figures, just enjoy it Thumbs Up

Very valid point G. Only difference on most scooters is the speedo on the 50cc versions dont go as high. And most of the 50cc versions use rear drum brakes. Although on modern scooters, I think they are all rear disk now.

Yep, didn't realise that they made 'bigger' versions to and not just 50cc (I have ZERO interest in scooters Wink) ... they are all g4y anyway ... get a 50cc Trail bike (or summin like this https://img77.imageshack.us/img77/7405/derbigpr50bianco8fe.jpg) and look like a wanna be man, NOT a scooter and look like a wanna be granny!!! I'd rather do it feet first than head first, especially if there was something hard at the end Wink

lol, there is that ... its the stability that concerns me ...

What is it with this trend of scooters with today's yoof?

To my mind they are way uncool compared to the Race Rep or off road 50cc type bikes ...

A C50 is economical/sensible ... an 07-58 plate scoot - generally that looks totally fecked already is not ... Rolling Eyes

Amusing price wise they come in about the same ... I'd have a year or two old race rep 50cc over a NEW scoot any day ...
