Hi all, My Peugeot Speedfight 2 has been stood for 9 months, due to work and a dead battery so I thought I would start using it again.
I bought a new battery, new plug, and drained all petrol and cleaned carb, put it all together again , and im getting a spark, everything is turning over but it will not fire/start up....any ideas, Ive ordered a manual !
I did try to get it started before I cleaned carb , but it would not so I decided to clean it all up thanks.

Does if have a factory fitted immobiliser? If yes, you will need to reprogramme the keys if the battery died.

Hi thanks yes it does. have an imobiliser fitted.
But when i put the red key in the led flashes and then the light goes off, you then pull in the brake lever and the red led lights and press the starter button and the engine turns but will not fire/start.
im sure it used to do that before? What does the imobiliser do on a Speedfight ? thanks

Stops it running.

I had the same thing on my speedfight (allbeit 11 years ago) as I remember you need the master key to do it.

After 9 months petrol may well have gunked up your jets and passageways in your carb. Either a carb off job or iv heard of pushing neat redex via a squeeze bottle and the carb drain pipe into the carb and then leaving it to dissolve gunk, followed by flushing out with petrol.

Hi I cleaned all carb and jets etc and still no luck, ran battery dead trying, so ive put it back on charge tonight.. The plug was wet/oily after trying...Is there anything that can be squirted down carb to give it a kick to start ? I read somewhere WD40 into air intake ? Ive ordered a manual so it should make it easier when it comes..thanks

The product you're thinking of is 'Easy-start', not WD-40.

However, if the plug is wet then that suggests it isn't sparking. EIther way, your spark plug is fouled. I'd soak it in some petrol and give it a clean up, then try it again.
