Hi all,

Yet again today i go to my mums to get the bike out and the battery is dead it was only run last week (after a full charge).

Anyway it got me thinking instead of pushing my bike out of the garage down the alley to get it Jumped is there something like this avaliable for a bike

https://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=49038&DOY=24m12

If theres is i cannot find it and if there isnt why not?

Thanks

Hi

Only one of the clips needs to go onto the battery, the other is the earth one and you can just clip that to a good earth elsewhere on the bike.

That way if the clip for the +ve lead only just fits then you can use one hand to hold it on securely while you crank it.

All the best

Thanks for the reply. Im still unsure that it will fit without me taking the battery out all together as my batter charger it alot smaller than that and they only just fit onto it.

As for gettin a new battery this is one well only about 3months old i think the alarm is draining. If i leave it for anything over 6 days it will not start.

I take it by the replies that there isnt one of these actually designed for a bike.

Thanks Again

Hi

Pretty sure there isn't, but there are loads of different models so you might find one with easier to locate leads.

You could also run a lead from the +ve battery terminal (or the terminal for the starter relay) to a location that would be easier to get at. Just make sure the connector a the end is insulated well when not in use.

Fair chance if they battery has gone that flat a few times that it will be well on its way out despite being pretty new.

All the best

Keith

to make it fit screw your bolts back onto the battery then attach charger to bolts i had to do it on my SP1 as there is no room and it beats taking the battery out

Can always get some smaller jump leads and use them to attach to the jump starter.

You can get smaller ones with smaller connectors, not sure where, but I seem to remember Marjay's one was overall a bit more compact.
Or you could fit smaller connectors to a standard jump pack.

Shouldn't be going flat after 6 days anyway, I would be looking for a new decent battery.

Or a new alarm. My car alarm will kill the car battery in under a week if left turned on.

All the best

I've got one similar to that and its fine for emergencies.

If you shop around you can get them for £20 - £25. The more expensive have better batteries but the cheaper ones work fine with bikes.

+1 for getting a new battery sorted, cheaper and will probably fix it unless there is something else draining more power than it should be.

May be it is something else draining it then as i got this battery as the other was goin flat after about 3 days. I just assumed that it was goin flat about a week of being left becuase i wasnt running it as much as i should be for it to keep its charge.

Friends of mine says their alarm does drain there battery if left to long and they have very new bikes.

Someone said about optimate yeah i do have one of them but that does not get the bike going there and then when i need it.

Thanks for that link much cheaper than maplin.

The idea is to keep the battery connected when it not in use so that it's always fully charged.
