Security whilst in garage - anchors?

hi guys

I'm looking to secure my GPZ whilst in the garage - just for added peace of mind.

Been to B&Q this morning and they do "Master" anchors for about £18 which I thought was pretty reasonable. Also has the added benefit of securing my 2 mountain bikes

What sort of chains would you recommend and does anyone know anywhere cheaper for the anchors? Or chains, or complete set, or any better ideas yada yada yada

As well as anchors.

Go for garage door hidden throw bolts these are hidden on the inside and go down about 4" in to the ground andgo at either corner to prevent the door being opened with a crow bar.

This stops the door being bounced. (To break in to an up and over door all you have to do run at it and throw yourself in to the top half of it, it will simply open)

Also consider using multiple chains and disk locks.

Other things to consider :

Use a digital baby monitor, plugged in at all times.

Hide/Secure the light switch in the garage, criminals find
it harder to work at night.

Link your house alarm in to the garage, run wire under
the garden to your garage and then you can put sensors
on door & windows.

Shotgun mines, with blank cartridges. Apparently they are legal
Criminal walks in and boom. Would shxt me up.



I'm also lucky as I have a long garage, so I put the car in the garage behind the bikes. The car has an alarm/mobiliser and I put a large steering lock on that as well.

And my last piece of advice is keep your keys secure in your house, do not leave downstairs on key rack etc. My mate had his £45K Landrover Sport nicked by this very method. Hide/Secure your keys.

Nope, i always make sure i take my keys with me everywhere, including up into the bedroom when i go up at night - heard a few stories like that too!

Mate of mine has an 'en Block' garage. Alarms/anything electrical is out of the question as there's no power supply.

He has one a Garage Defender. He also uses a ground anchor.

I use two ground anchors, one for front wheel one for back with two decent quality chain/padlocks. Two disc locks on front. Garage door has two defenders (one either side) at the bottom and a large deadbolt at the top. Also has car parked up against the door. It can be a pain in the arse at times but realistically the more devices you use the less chance your bike is gonna go walkies. Although im pretty sure if a proffesional thief wanted your bike they would still get it. Oh and +1 for keeping your keys upstairs, heard too many stories of key theft.

I just park the car infront of the garage door.

I bought a ground anchor from eBay for £7, does the same job as the £18 from shops
