Careful if you're out this morning on your bikes lads, I thought the roads were ok this morning, until I got about 5 miles into my commute when they were like sheet ice, thankfully I was in the car but if I was on the bike I'd of either had an off or had to abandon my journey.

i looked out to a white road so donned boots and tested the surface to find it was just dry powder snow so kitted up and off i went.
main roads were all clear and suprisingly grippy. tonight temps are due to drop like the stock exchange so thats going to be the main worry.

Took one look out the window at 5.30 am and though "Fvck that!"

My driveway is a 1 in 3 gradient and the local sidestreets are ungritted. We suffer quite a bit when the snow arrives here. In my stupid 'yoof' days I probably would have risked it (with the associated BCF post about crashing ) but nowadays with the wife on the back I don't risk it.

Lost the back end going down my snowed up road which is a hill, but recovered it just in time before the junction. As I slowly applied the back brake, I didn't feel any slowing down then as I realised "Shit the wheel's locked!", I felt it start to drift and took my foot off the pedal, both feet on the floor and bought the bike up and stable again. I guess that's the good thing about using a small bike in winter... The rest of the 30 mile commute was okay (apart from ice/snow building up constantly on the visor and the pain in my face if I rode with it up), the roads were gritted but there were a few idiot drivers pulling stupid manoeuvres. Par for the course really.

rode in this morning, wasn't too bad but then I'm only a 10 minute commute. I have a date about 20 miles away tomorrow afternoon. I may be cancelling it - no woman is worth taking the bus for!

I wheel span and slip-slided up my street this morning, cos I stupidly didn't check where I put my bike when I got it out the garden, the back wheel squarely in a pile of icey, mushy squished up leaves.

Sorry Wil I couldn't help but laugh at that, I managed to get to work in good time actually as most people had gotten out of lane 3 at junction 14.

So I sailed down the outside of the queue, filtered to the front and bimbled on my way, I love bikes.

Got five minutes up the road, thought to myself, "fuck I've been swindled - these roads are clear as a bell".

Turned back, got on the bike. Was 15 minutes late.

Message from my boss about being late at about 13 minutes.

Yeh, I'm bored of the job anyway. The only care I have about being late is future references, etc.
