How long does a V5C take?

As above , in that how long does it take ? , most recently with the CBR600 and a Honda Dominator it took 3 weeks, (the Dominator was sold on after a month of ownership as its engine life is too low for a RTW trip 55000 miles when I want to do at least 35000 miles)

I think I've had the Africa Twin for oh 4 weeks now and there is still no sign of the V5C appearing.... but then christmas was in between this too.

How long should I wait before contacting the DVLA and what do I do in contacting the DVLA? , I still have the new keeper slip I just call them and say hi my V5 hasn't appeared yet....and then what?...

Any thoughts?

I think you're meant to wait 6 weeks officially. I'd ring them as soon as after the 6 weeks. Thumbs Up

And yeah you pretty much say my V5 hasn't arrived and I've been waiting 6 weeks.

i think they say it can be up to 6 weeks ... if you phone them they may even say expect 8 due to christmas and new year - im in the same situation as you and im just waiting for a bit. i had my bike right at the end of november - so its been about 5 weeks. if it isnt here this week im going to ring them monday - they can usually look into it and when ive done it before they told me it had been posted and it came a day or two later (perhaps they re-posted it, but i dont care cos i got it in the end)

just phone them, tell them your log book hasnt come, they'll ask some details and you'll get an answer.

one thing to consider, did the person send their bit off quickly ? because if they had it on a coffee table in the envelope for a week then you need to take that into consideration Thumbs Up

Had a similar thing with my hornet, 6 weeks no V5 (does say on the back of new keeper). Told me to go to post office get some form, fill that out and send the original new keepers. So I photocopied that (new keepers) and posted it all record delivery. Got the thing back within 2 weeks if I remember rightly...

Interestingly the bike shop I got it from said that they had a similar thing with another bike sold to customer that same day (as mine and other customers where posted together) and she hadn't got the V5 either. Sounds like the DVLA lose a whole load of V5s at once.

When i sold the zzr i forgot to post the V5 off for a month... only remembered when the guy rang me to see if i had sent it off as he hadnt recieved it yet. Sent it off and he got it within 2 weeks.

Ring the number on the back of the new keepers and they will (hopefully) tell you which form it is and how to fill it out so you can get it free. There was a certain box to tick which made you exempt from the charges.

Its a V62 I looked it up , tommorow I'm seeing the guy who sold it to me and selling HIM me NTV650 as a run about, I'm wanting the V5 for the Africa twin to get rid of it and replace it with a TT600R / XT600E (if I can find one) and leave early for this big trip I've been planning. And start applying for VISAs.

The Africa is 3rd choice for going out there, but if all else fails I'll take it out there, its in a fetching RWB original colours now after stripping the paint off it and changing the end can...

Just transferred my car from my mums name into mine, took about a week to come through, never waited more than about 2 weeks before.

I think with the slow car sales atm the dvla should be turning these around pretty quickly.

Did the same with me and a car I bought just before christmas. I sent off for another one with the new keeper supplement, and they ended up sending me two...which was odd.
