Good Idea or Bad Idea?
On the weekend I'll be replacing some worn bushes on the suspension etc.. And pondering on the thought of respraying the swing arm.
Using this picture I google'd, which colour do you reckon would look nicest? Then I'll eventually get round to matching the colour with the front forks. I'm thinking either black, or gold.

Don't paint it, it will all flake off. My reccomendation is to mask the areas with threads or where other parts meet it, and then get it powdercoated.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Forgot about the powder coating. How much would something like that typically cost? I always thought about doing it with engine. It would last much longer too.

Dude, I wouldnt bother doing any painting or any other aesthetic stuff until about a week before i sell my CLR125. Just aint worth it.

Keep ontop of the mechanical stuff, and look after the mini-lump and it will treat you well.

I dont even know if i can bear to part with mine cos its great for the winter commute through town.

Quite a smart looking bike that. The exhaust is horrendous though! Is that standard?

Use the money for lessons and a test or the theory test. Much better idea. I know where ur comin from, i love mine to bits, i keep it in the house next to the 2 x ZXR400's!!!!!

But it is a stepping stone/winter hack. If it starts to get really bad, then maybe powder coat it, until then leave it be. Let it get some character Very Happy

I suppose so. its not that bad, just afew scratches and stuff. If it ever gets rather bad. Potential rat bike? I can always keep the bike as the cheap run around if times ever get really tough

spares, nope! apart from an endless supply of bulbs. I did think about stocking up on tubes. But I've got the breakdown cover for that. What would you say are best to stock up on, as reserves? probably chains/sprockets I suppose. going to need to buy a new front tyre, bushes and disc brake to get it through the MOT

No need to "stock up" but if u really want to do something to the bike get some Renthal bars, mini indicators, and loose the grab rail.
Change the oil, u know u should Wink , check that chain and clean out the crud from the cover that protects the front sprocket.

Chk the gap on the spark, maybe get a new one just for the hell of it (about 4 quid if that)
The airbox will have nothing in it so dont worry about it, and the oil filter is a centrifugal filter that might need a wipe.

Oh, get a spare throttle cable, its a bitch trying to push the fukka home when it snaps, and it will do......
