Im going to be insuring my new bike in a few weeks, but the front tyre needs replacing, the back is fine but they are Shinko tyres and i haven't heard good things about them and dont want to risk it if they are as bad as people say. Anyway, im on the lookout for two new tyres, sizes;

Front - 3.60S19
Rear - 4.10S18

Does anyone know of a place that stock these sizes, only really know of CWC and they dont have them. Also, what does the 'S' mean, as ive seen a tyre that was 3.60H19, would it be suitable. What does the 'H' mean?

Also, one last thing, is a 3.60S19 the same as a 360S19? Embarassed

Just saying, its going to be on the road in a few weeks and minus the tyres, insurance is the only thing preventing me from being on the road, i will be in a financial position to insure it in a few weeks. So therefore i only need to sort out a pair of tyres, hence this thread. Thumbs Up

Shinkos may be shit tyres, but you're only riding a CB400.

Maybe you should replace just the front for now, you may find the crappy tyres aren't as bad as you have been told.

Hi

Shinko bought the old Yokohama motorcycle tyre technology up I think. About 20 years ago.

Anyway, the letter is the speed rating. S is 180kmh. H is 210kmh.

Personally I would buy Shinkos, especially for a small bike like yours.

They are probably better than the OE stuff it came with.

Just take it easy at first in the wet to gague their grip.

In my opinion having low grip is not the problem, the real problem is not knowing how much grip you have. Gradually find their limits and they should be fine.

FWIW, Shinkos are not frowned upon down here in Aus. I know several people who have them, even one very experienced guy who has a Blackbird and is not shy of using its abilities. He has no complaints.

Thanks for that Chris, I'll just leave the back one then as its fairly new. I think ill look out for the the same one as ive got on it now, for the front. Doing some more searching i did find an Oz forum as it happens and they did have some good things to say about them.
