Legally, however it's already available on torrent sites.

Gonna give it a go, been following development and it seems like it is going to be a lot like Vista, but quicker and with some fancy new things.

I don't want to lose my current Vista partition though, will I be able to create a partition on my HDD with the Windows 7 disc?

Vista's still a steaming pile of buggy shite and you're already thinking of the next MS rip-off?

I cant see why people hate it so much. I've not had a single problem with it in the 9 months I've been using it, on my laptop or tower! I use both as media players too.

It's not buggy. Confused

Windows 7 is going to be basically Vista 2, so it's worth a try at least.

Oh, yeah. Pay £100+ for Vista, then pay the same again for a Service Pack masquerading as yet another "New, Improved!" operating system.

Gates can fvck off and die of cancer, the dirty low-life scamming shit-cvnt that he is.

It's no different than buying a Pentium 4 processor and then buying a "New, Improved!" Core 2 Duo is it though? Still does the same thing. It's a business product. Apple are even worse, charging their users basically a yearly subscription to OS X. Smile

It would be exactly the same if the Pentium 4 processor was a malfunctioning piece of crap (like Vista).

It was an over heating POS and AMD trounced all over it.

I have only ever had one problem with Vista and to be fair that was my own fault.

You obviously have a vendetta against Vista, but I know of plenty of people who have never had a problem with Vista.

The funny thing is a lot of reviewers are already saying that Windows 7 is amazing and brilliant. When other sources are saying it is just a second version of Vista. I think people in general just have something against Vista. Cause let's be honest, it is in NO way the worst OS Microsoft have developed (M.E takes that title). For me it was a perfectly logical step from XP.

Never had a single problem with my P4, and neither did any of my customers.

I had shed-loads of problems with my Vista, and so did scores of my customers.

How many customers do you have?

To be honest for the first 12 months driver support was abysmal for Vista. I only use PC for internet, word processing/excel and movie/music, with occasional photoshopping. If I were to persue a gaming spec, I'd shudder with the icy cold task of finding and successfully installing drivers for motherboards, graphics cards, sound cards etc. Not to mention that at the launch most people either had to buy a new PC or spend some decent coin upgrading their systems to be even able to run it..... then find out fuck all worked on it, especially if you were 64-bit.

Nvidia drivers, sound drivers, network-adapter drivers, printer-drivers, games crashing or malfunctioning, constant BSODs. That's with three fresh installs.

Currently the wireless printer works fine with my XP-Pro but refuses to function on my wife's Vista laptop. Latest drivers, traced the connection all the way through and it shows as being fully functional and online, but won't print.

Vista is shite, period.

Half of those problems aren't Vista's fault though are they?

If third party developers can't pull their heads from their arses and make proper drivers then god help us. Yes Microsoft may have been awkward by changing the complete kernel of the system, but it has made windows faster and better as a consequence, if third party developers can't make their drivers work you can't blame it on Microsoft.

As for BSOD's I can't say i've seen one yet. Were they caused by the dodgy drivers?

Its OK Jon, i will join your Vista fan club Very Happy

Not once had a problem with Vista in the 9/10 months i have been using it. Couldn't get my wireless adaptor thing to work that i bought when i had XP, looked on the box and it said it was compatible with XP (no mention of vista).

Looked on the website and found some Vista drivers and it worked perfectly. A lot of the problems that people seem to have with Vista is either their own problem by trying to use incompatible drivers (and most of the time, Vista drivers are available for download) or third parties developing buggy/incompatible stuff.

I have Vista on my main laptop and XP Pro on my diddy netbook thing that is purely for use lounging around in bed and to be honest, i absolutley hate the UI of XP. Another thing about Vista is, not once have i had it crash on me where as XP seems to crash (or lockup and de-lockup itself 10/15 minutes later).

Anyhow, i don't generally go for beta software, especially something like an OS so i will leave it and see what others think of it and wait till it comes out for retail. Although i won't buy it for the sake of buying it, i will just wait until i want to upgrade (unless i go over to apple, then i will buy it and run a dual boot) and if the system i buy has the new OS pre-installed then so be it, if it has Vista then it makes no difference to me. I won't buy a system particulaly for an OS.

Ultimate x64 and its brilliant, bit slow on startup but no issues apart from Mionet support and my old media remote.

Thumbs Up

Dont see what the problem with Vista is, it was a big and bold change there were bound to be slow uptakes. maybe not the quickest and a memory hogger at times but I just installed more memory.

I said it before and I will say it again. Microgay are a product of their own success and Windows 7 will need to be special and damn quick!

I have considered moving to XP64 though as I use it at work a lot but no DX10 and I game mostly.

Even comparing a p4 and a duo in the same sentence shows your ignorance matey... different structure all together being 65 nm and 45 nm...

Btw i agree with your vista statement though as I have run vista for about 5 months and I have had less problems than that I had with XP SP1!

All the best

I've read the reports of the interactions between the arrogant scum at MS and the tards at Nvidia etc. MS deserve the lion's share of the criticism.

How about the fact that MS knew the sound sub-system in Vista was semi-functional, but decided to release Vista anyway because "fixing it now would delay release". So they promised to patch it after release. We're still waiting. Your sound works? You're lucky. Go google it.

It's an absolute fvcking outrage that Vista has ANY significant problems this long since release, never mind the huge fvcking raft of them. Oh I'm sure Vista works fine when it's not being pushed very hard. Fine for browsing and looking at pictures. But play games or edit music/movies or anything else a little too demanding? The POS folds at the first possible opportunity.

Meanwhile I've not re-booted XP-Pro since before xmas and it's handling anything I throw at it. But then it should, considering how long it's been out and how long those fvckwits at MS have had to fix it properly.

MS is a criminal entity that flouts all laws and consumer regulations and gets away with it with bribery and corruption. Not forgetting how it uses it's batteries of lawyers to crush all competition (Michael Roberts and Lindows anyone?).

My copies are pushed everyday, between gaming, streaming (mostly at the same time) recording music from my decks. Then me overclocking and crashing the OS when running burn in tests which isnt healthy!

I agree that vista "was" a bag of shite but I think your experiences with it have been unlucky to say the least. I like the Vista face now if they had only redesinged Xp's gui I could be temped to switch back.

But as I said above DX10 is the thing that made me change.

A lot of bad luck, considering the majority of my customers with Vista have experienced it too, and more often than not asked me to remove it and put on their old copy of XP.

Vista is almost as bad as ME.

DX10, another POS. And what difference do you actually see in a game with it enabled? Fvck-all that I ever saw to mention. Ubisoft actually went so far as to patch it out of Assassins Creed because it was so buggy.

The vast majority of people loathe Vista because it's shite. That doesn't mean that some people won't find it works ok. Just most of them.

Well yes and no. Sure, if MS are going to develop a new OS then other companies will want to make drivers in good time for the release date, but then surely if MS wants anyone to be able to use the fucking thing for.......anything...... then it might be in their interests to make sure the relveant companies have sufficient means to be able to develop said drivers.

Don't quote me on this but I have a vague memory of some developers saying they couldnt develop drivers because MS wouldn't grant them access to the necessary information - I think this was in an effort by MS to remove the need for 3rd party developers such that Vista would be a one stop shop for everything. Which would have been fine if it had worked...then or now.....

Oh yeah, and let's not forget to mention their biggest criminal fraud, the money-whoring no-hard-copy scam.

So you buy a new PC. You pay for the pre-installed OS of course. But you don't get a hard-copy, because the MS filth dictated it so.

So the OS goes tits-up. But that's ok, because there's a copy on a seperate partition and you have a recovery-disc. Gee, how clever! Until the partition gets corrupted or, shock horror, the entire drive fails! So now what are you going to do? Ring MS? Good luck with that.

No, you're expected to buy a whole new copy of the OS. Fancy that! MS get two bites from your wallet, charging you again for something you've already paid for.

And they get away with it. Blatant, flagrant, criminal FRAUD.
