Effectiveness of Draggin / Hood jeans in a high speed off

Thinking of getting some Draggin or most likely Hood jeans, and have found some pics of how they stand up in a spill, but not managed to find any speed tests.

Has anyone ever come off at speeds over 100mph in such clothing? (Obviously I realise that it's street furniture that's going to do the most damage). Do you feel as safe wearing said jeans as you would wearing leathers?

I went over at near my max speed the other day and my draggin jeans were unscathed. Admittedly i was ice skating and I'm not particularly good so my max speed is about 10mph.

Only worry i have is a lack of padding / armour, knee & hip pads can take a lot of the impact instead of breaking bones so I keep meaning to buy some forcefield stuff to go underneath. They're also fairly warm... well warm enough for my commute anyway.

I don't have any draggin jeans so I may be wrong, but I can't see them being as good as leathers when they are baggy like that.

Unless they do a new version "Draggin Emo Tosser Jean" 34w 34l, sorted.

Draggin jeans will be fine in a high speed off as long as you don't hit anything solid like a cats eye, kerb, etc. I have a second pair I wear without the armour in over my leather jeans in the winter to provide a bit more warmth.

I used Draggin Jeans during the summer to commute in.

Apart from the stitching round the thighs and the badge they look and feel the same as a regular pair of jeans. This may be the problem in a crash. Clothes tend to ruck up and crumple when extended or flexed and in a tumble will they protect you as well as a one / two piece suit? Not sure.

The skid tests are quite controlled and only in one variable, the buttocks in a seated position.

The lack of hard armour has a small niggle in the back of your mind but after a while its a faint distant voice.

Felt nice albeit a little hot when sitting in traffic as quite thick due multiple layers, I suspect a lot cooler than if I'd been in leathers in the same conditions.

£90 not a bad price to pay. I'd want some cargo pants next but not the camo ones

I have a pair of red route jeans which are comfy and far cooler than my textile stuff, but I wouldn't fancy binning it while wearing them. The Kevlar is sparse to say the least, and they only have knee armour. I'm thinking of getting some leather trousers for peace of mind when I'm going for a spirited ride, as opposed to riding to a mates house/shops/pub.

I wear Draggin Jeans in the Summer; for round town commuting and short country rides. For long distance I go back to armoured textiles. I know it is a compromise, they are obviously not as good as textiles or leathers.

However they make summer city riding enjoyable and will give adequate protection against road rash from low speed offs. It is not a strong argument to say that being to hot and uncomfortable is a huge safety issue but it is an issue.

Going into my third summer this year and have bought a Draggin Jeans Denim Jacket to go with my jeans (with my Christmas money) Because I want to just wear a tee shirt of work shirt but will not. I must have some protection.

Again, it is a compromise but in low speed city conditions or for a little ride out on a warm summers evening it is one I am prepared to make for the sake of both comfort and being able to get off at the other end and go straight into work.

I took my JTS jeans with me when I went touring - they were a godsend on the hot days in Italy and South of France. I was mostly doing motorways the days I was wearing them though, although was doing cruising between 100-120 most of the time. They have knee armor fitted, which is just the same as my textiles really. There useful to take anyway as you can still wear them in the evenings or if your having a sightseeing day.

I've since added a zip from an old pair of textiles so I can attach them to my jacket which makes them feel more secure. I find them really useful for round town, get very hot walking round shops in textiles.

Since i can never find a decent set of leather trousies that fit waist and leg at the same time mine are very comfy and warm

I use mine round town and I feel safe in them, country lanes and 60 zones they let through some wind, which emphasizes that ultimately they are just jeans.

On a motorway I dont like them, feel too much like jeans flapping around and dont inspire confidence at all

Also the impact protection from stones is none existant, i got a stone flicked up at my shin from the bike in front and it left a nice bruise and it was sore to the touch for a few days. Emphasises the fact they have very little impact protection


Like has been said, fine if you slide how they are designed to protect you. But even on that vid if the guy was putting his legs down they would ride up and be no use from the knee down really.
When tumbling you dont have much say in how you slide.


Up to you ultimately, more protection than normal jeans, but IMO not as good as textiles or leathers. Handy for ease of use. I use mine to commute to work / town which is just 30s and 40s

My hoods survived a good years worth of abrasion against the rather rough carbon fibre weave tank pads I had on the RST before they started looking tatty.

Oh and G, try the Concept Six next time, the aramid is much much softer and I find a little more wind resistant too. My K7s look a little smarter but are not quite as solid or comfortable imho.

I have a pair and they are really good for hot summer days or using if you can't carry a change of cloths.

Wouldn't want to ride fast in them as they are not as good at crashing as leathers.

I have also bought the extra pads to go in mine so they now offer, in my opinion, about the same level of protection as most textiles.
