I've just started scanning mine.
Have you scanned the whole manual? (mine is at least 100 double sided pages I reckon)
I was looking to OCR them then put it into a HTML format, though this may take a while.

Kornel might be able to put them onto NSR125.com, if not I was looking at setting up a site on my comp with my cable modem.

Yes I have scanned the whole manual (220odd sides I think). I have an autofeed scanner at work! Laughing

But I only scanned them as images, not OCR, etc. There's not that much text mostly diagrams so didin't really see the point in Acrobat, etc.

I want to upload it but don't know where. Confused

File choices are:
200dpi 256 colour - 594 MB!!
16 colour and zipped - 47MB.
16 colour and 50% size, zipped - just 17MB.

Now I can write the full files onto CDs and post?
E-mail to people who want it (I have ADSL so no problem for me)
Or upload to some webspace.

Can someone let me know how and where you want it.

Ta

Sure - no problem but don't worry about the money, etc. just e-mail your address and I can post it.
I just thought I would be able to make it available to more people if I uploaded it.

autofeed.... grrrnffll... I recently got a new scanner for £30... not very fast as you might Imagine.
You'll probably have trouble emailing it unless you break it up... I scanned some stuff for Peje at 300dpi and my email server wouldn't let an 8mb file through... You could try WinRAR or similar that lets you break it up.

Putting it in HTML/acrobat etc should significantly save space as the big gaps/text will take up significantly less space.

If I could send you SAE & Cd for the whole manual I'll see what I can do; it's as good a way as any to learn php :)

As I told Dylan, don't want money just e-mail your address.
If you can sort it then that'd be great. I don't have too much time or the know-how to do somein'like that.
(I'm gonna start a new thread just to check how many people need this manual. I think Annabella wanted a copy)

I often send and receive files MUCH bigger than that. I often get 'movies' from a mate, often well into 100's of MB. Purely educational movies of course. Laughing

I've got ADSL so it's no prob for me.
Or what about making it available on Morpheus??? Does everyone use it. We could arrange a time and you could download it that way?

Try and get a copy of the Dyno run on floppy and post it for all. I'd be curious to see it.

Oh well... I've got cable but it's probably just ntl being crappy Sad... morpheous would be good for me though.

If it's not too much trouble do you reckon you could try emailing the whole thing over night or something... don't worry if it's trouble or you actually want to use your adsl for the coupla hours it'll take... I'm really not that bothered though and I'll be away until wednesday anyway.

I'll e-mail it now (I guess you want the 17mb zipped file).
With ADSL it'll only take a few minutes! Very Happy

G'luck with it!

Cheers.. I meant the big un and thus the overnight bit. The small one will be fine though, as I said I'm trying to learn php... which may take a little while anyway :), so lower quality will be just as good for messing about with.

Oh crap, sorry. If I'd actually thought about it - it was obvious. Embarassed

(If I had a brain - I'd be dangerous!)

Well if/when you want the bigger version just let me know.
At least being just 17mb you should have it by now or pretty soon.

I didnt do the dyno run today because i got a flat battery leaving school, the battery was made in 1982, so no wonder it was naked!!!! Might do a dyno run on Monday afternoon if ive got the free lesson time, then ill see if i can get a printout, probably loads of flat spots!!!!!

Yeah - got it! No worries about the scanning - with autofeed not TOO much hassle. Just renaming all the files to the chapters / sections takes the time.

Shame 'bout the battery. When you do the dyno run they SHOULD be able to give you the file on floppy or at least the printout. I'm curious where it makes the power and where (if any) the torque is.

I'll sort the CD at the weekend if that's OK.

Thanks very much. The battery only cost £20 for a sealed type. This dyno run should also help me see if its restricted or not (sure it isnt).
