My brother was stabbed a couple of hours ago for no reason at all, we live in a pretty crap area of Winchester but I never thought it would be rough enough for kids to take knifes everywhere with them. He was walking back from Tescos and someone with a full face hoody ran past, stabbed him straight through the arm, doing a lot of damage on the way through and coming out the other side, then stopped to take a swing for his mate.

Usually I'd ignore something like this on the news, seeing another kid stabbed through gang wars kinda makes me think that they know what they're doing, being in gangs which cause troubles, but when it's someone who has done zero wrong I just can't understand how someone can do that??

Anyone else had any similar things happen the them/family?

i was hit by some mug with an extendable baton while minding my own business waiting for a train one evening. Unlucky for him i was waiting for my mate to arrive on the said train - we 'apprehended' him and dragged him to the police station. Turns out he'd robbed 3 people earlier on in the evening so ended up serving 8 months inside.

Because they are fukcing idiots who think they are "well hard" and wouldn't last 30 seconds without their knife in a proper fight.

Sorry didn't realise I put it in the wrong section!

I can only think it is purely that reason, to look hard, otherwise they're a hugely messed up human being. I'm usually love a chance to get revenge but with this it's a bit more serious, it's things like this which lead to people killing each other purely out of revenge.

Chances are my brother could lose his arm with how badly damaged it is, does me wanting to turn up at the guys house (if we find out who it is) and cut both his legs off with a chainsaw make me sick, or just looking after family? (on second thoughts don't answer that haha)

I just wish the guy who was running around with a knife stabbed someone who deserved it, like a pervert or a rapist, not my brother who spends his life teaching mentally disabled children how to play football.

I'm intrigued to know why he may lose his arm. If it was a blunt blade swung hard then it will cause a fair bit of damage but even so. In this day and age there is very little that causes trauma so massive as to require amputation.

Knife crime certainly seems on the up. I had a run in with it on New Years day when a couple of yoofs attempted to snatch my camera bag whilst I was out photographing some of the more spectacularly frosted trees, end result was a couple of slashes and a minor stab wound but nothing life threatening. Main thing that concerns me is the fact that although I walk with a crutch and a noticable limp I'm still a fairly imposing chap, if the shits will go for me then it doesn't bode well for some of the older people I've seen walking dogs on the parkland.

I phrased that wrong I think, I didn't mean lose his arm as in cutting it off I meant the use of his arm, from what we have been told by the doctors the blade entered his bicep and came out of his tricep, damaging a lot of ligaments on the way through. The doctor seemed hopeful but said there is always a chance of physio and ligament surgery not working.

I've always been under the impression that if someone approached me with a blade I'd refuse to back down, being that they need to jab/slice you first I always thought I stood a good chance of moving or avoiding it. After seeing the damage this has cause I'm pretty sure I'll use my 'county trained' running skills in the other direction.

Sorry to hear that.

No, it doesnt make you sick IMO, it'd be sound justice as far as I'm concerned. IF the police catch him, he MAY go to prison (probably unlikely in this day and age), yet going to prison he'll get a nice gym to work out in (thus coming out bigger and stronger....perfect for the next attack he carries out), a cushy cell with playstation and 3 square meals a day, and he'll have access to plenty of drugs in there as well. Im sure he'll regret his actions morning noon and night Confused

Whereas, on the other hand, were you to don a balaclava and foot off this guys door at 3am with a couple of pals and use whatever action you felt necessary to make sure he never walked again by destroying his kneecaps beyond surgical repair, you can bet your bottom dollar he'd probably look back and think "damn, knifing that dude wasn't one of the most sensible things I've done".

If it was me, I'd feel exactly how you do, and if you do find out who it is, use the information wisely and be careful.
