Hi guys

I am looking at selling my Daytona 675 and cant believe how much its costs these days to do so, normally i would trade in but at the moment i wont be buying another bike.

I was wondering whether people had had any good or bad experience with certain webistes and can reccomend which one they would splash the cash on, for example;

Autotrader, MCN, Ebay etc...

Thanks
Steve

Ebay if you're willing to put up with the "Will you take £1000 cash" kinda shit, and non payers are everywhere now that sellers are unable to leave negative feedback. With a bike like that I'd put it on a Buy Now with Best Offer, simply because it isn't a 'chavvy' bike. If you put your telephone number on the add you have a higher chance of selling it 'outside' of eBay, which will save you the final value fee (Which I think is £25?)

I've sold loads of cheaper bikes on eBay (Got one on there now actually), but I've always found Biketrader quite good. You will always get a better price for the machine, and you should get a few less idiots.

I've never tried to sell on MCN, simply because I never search for bikes myself on there as the search functions are shite. Might be worth putting it in the MCN paper though?!

I've always used Bike Trader in the past and had good results, but they are pretty pricey. The last time around I thought I'd save a few quid and use MCN which also appealed as they offer 6 week ads as standard, which seems like a good idea with the economy as fucked as it is. I sold after a couple of weeks and had quite a few enquiries afterwards as well, so I would use them again.

I've always used word of mouth and BCF to sell bikes.

I'd use Autotrader if I was desperate though.

Use Biketrader over eBay. People go on eBay looking for a bargain, you can ask for a higher price on Biketrader.

thanks for the advice. what i dont want to do is pay for something not so good, not sell and then have to pay again - (like ebay then autotrader)

I would agree with Ebay i think it doesnt work for decent machines, i think i will go for MCN first then if i have no luck on there after 6 weeks do the adtrader - im in no rush and it may take a while with the economy and time of year!

THanks Very Happy

I was selling my mates bike in the summer (07 650 Bandit) as he went travelling - I didn't want to have the hassle of ebay so tried MCN, and got about 3 or 4 calls but no one came to see it (in 6 weeks). It was also listed on here and a few other sites.

Banged it on BikeTrader and it sold within a week, and plently of interest even after I had agreed the deal and got a deposit. (to a lad who's lived about half a mile away and had just passed his test). I know which one I'll be using next time.

I sold my old car on ebay and there was no end of messages and hassles, put me off it really, although probably better if your buying to get a bargain.

ebay - wait for when they send you emails about 1p listing weekend special offers etc..

Gumtree? thats a free listing site.

I always thought to myself if ever I were listing a car/motorbike. I would get myself another SIM card to put in a spare moblie phone or something. and switch the phone on only for when I want people to contact me. and then after the sale, if you get one of those people who constantly keep calling you moaning about X,Y,and Z that was never there, they won't be bothering you on your main number

eBay classifieds are not supposed to be so bad.
Yet you will still get silly offers on there and ebay take about £25 in fees, apart from the £12.99 listing fee.

Not tried MCN or Bike Trader as of yet.
Although they seem to be one and the same.

i would put it on ebay. i have bought two bikes from ebay and both times the seller and i have agreed to complete the deal outside ebay to save the fees. if i am buying from a genuine biker i would be happy to save him a few pounds that way.

if i was looking for a bike i would try ebay first. i bought a new r6 in the last week and ebay was my first port of call. hope that helps

I would say ebay. Just agree with the buyer / seller and withdraw the bike then make the deal privately.
