I'm pretty sure that the pedals are only really used for starting the engine though. Something like that would be a bit heavy to ride on pedals alone.

Not just starting it, also used to negotiate any slight incline Laughing

Definitely.

I could keep a steady 30mph up a steep hill if I pedalled my Raleigh aswell Laughing

Rather late, but...
I was looking at making a Triumph 675 shaped push bike until I broke my leg (still may do it, though!)
I had an R6 front end on a push bike and to simulate the extra weight on the rear, added 40kg of weights through the frame. Total weight was 74kg I think. Ok, I had a lot more gears, but I managed to get it up the very, very steep hill behind my house, as well as generally ride it around.
