Declaring Restriction Kit

I am picking up my Triumph TT600 tomorrow and need to know if I should phone up insurance people to declare the restriction as a mod. It is not an aftermarket restriction kit, so was supplied to dealers direct from Triumph. Insurance companies t's & c's on their websites usually say some malarky about not being modified from manufacturers specifications. Any advice?

EDIT: Worth noting I got my A2 license after my 21st birthday, so are they even likely to check into that in the event of a crash? I know insurance companies will find any excuse, but they may be naive enough to assume I have an Unrestricted license since I got it after turning 21?

I think you should declare it. I dont think it will make any difference to your premium, although they may make an admin charge.

I'm not really concerned regarding premium price, as I doubt also it would bring up the price. This is going to sound stupid but I just plain ass hate using the phone, I have always signed up for things by internet. I even changed my last policy on my 125 by mail after I got the policy so I wouldn't need to use the phone!

Seeing as they should know from your age and length of licence held that a restriction will be needed to be legal.
It should not be classed as a mod.
Mods are usually things that will increase the value/power of the bike.
Thus make their payout risk higher.
Now you could argue that as a newer rider you do fall into a higher risk band, but they should have already worked all that in by your age/ licence held details anyway.

Thanks for posts. Brokers website stated performance ENHANCING mods sounds good to me. if not, i'll change it by post again.

Didn't declare mine. Although if you do an online quote and compar the difference between restricted and not, restricted omes out more expensive.

I don't think it's because they consider it a performance enhancing mod, more so that a restriction kit is somewhere between £150 and £250, so adds value to the bike, despite it being a horrible horrible mod
