so my insurance company sends me a letter asking for my restriction certificate. okay i thought, they didn't mention this when i bought the policy but fine.

sent in a photocopy, forgot about it.

I have the same name as my dad so we don't usually open our letters straight away in case it's important. today he says there are two letters for me (cant be his because they're sent recorded).

so I open them and it's my insurance company informing me that they've cancelled my policy because I failed to produce a restriction certificate.

I'm raging at the moment. what do i do?

Well what you don't do is post on the internet asking for advice on such a mundane question.

What kind of answer were you expecting, except for "ring them", which I'd hope you've already thought of!

For the reocrd, the answer is, ring them.

You did get proof of postage didn't you?

If you did. Post that off with a covering letter and get proof of postage of you sending off the proof of postage.

If you didn't get proof of postage then take out a new policy with them straight away.(And get proof of postage when you send it off next time you muppet)

I'm also pretty sure they wouldn't cancel your insurance with zero warning if they didn't receive the document. Don't be having a go at them when you know you've probably ignored/mislaid/not opened warning letters from them.

What's the insurance company?

Sadly to them that means nothing.
Proof of postage is not proof of delivery......

Recorded/ Special Delivery is the only way to be sure they get the form.

To state the obovious......

Phone them...... Rolling Eyes
They may say you can fax a copy to them Thumbs Up

they HAVE to give you 7 days notice by recorded delivery if they are cancelling. If they haven't done this, I'll be very surprised - it's standard practice

I'm surprised they cancelled. I would have thought they'd just use it as an excuse to render it void, should you have a prang and want to claim.

Can't see a problem here.

Phone them on Monday, tell them you'll send another copy by Special delivery and give them the tracking No. Phone Tuesday, tell them who signed for it and they'll restart the policy, after all they want your money.

Although this all assumes it is restricted. Wink
