Right, at the moment i only have 2 HDMI cables, 1 being used for the PS3 and 1 being used for the home cinema.

What is the best way to connect the 360 until i can get hold of another HDMI cable? Might sound like a daft question but i just don't know the answer Laughing Looking for near HD quality as i can without HDMI (if its good enough, i won't even bother with HDMI)

Also, is there anyway to connect the 360 to the home cinema so it outputs through the surround sound? On the back of the DVD player/amplifier or whatever its called, it only has the connections for the speakers, HDMI and optical. Now i have my Sky+ and PS3 hooked upto the optical using a splitter thingy me bob, but the 360 doesn't have an optical port (booo MS!!!).

As you can tell, i aren't much of a geek. I just like to me lazy and play games, so any help is much appreciated.

Thanks
Matt

Mate, does your TV not have component in? Basically, if you have that, you can still run ur HDMI home cinema & PS3 on the 2 cables and use the standard component cable in HD mode connected to the R + G + B & sound ( stereo phono cables)... i'm not sure what your sound system is like, but i'd be surprised if they don't have a stereo in jack on one of the inputs at the back of the amp unit? Give that a go i suppose... downside is that you'd need your home cinema system on if you want to be listening to sounds since you're not routing your cable through your TV?

How long will it take you to get a hmdi cable? Surely you could just unplug the PS3 cable and plug it into the 360 while you aren't using the ps3?

Suppose i could go down to currys/comet and pick up a hdmi cable (and play dumb like Luke did Laughing ). Was just wondering if there is a cheaper way.

My TV is a 32v4000, the home cinema is a DZ260 or something like that (both sony, the home cinema cost about £120 or something, so nothing special)

Titz - I have to have my home cinema turned on all the time when watching anything anyway because i run sky and the ps3 through optical. But the home cinema uses the bravia sync so i can control my telly through the same remote Smile

Thanks for the help guys, you both have Karma

You could just use the normal HD leads lol.

Oh and 360's do have an audio optical port. The socket is on the cable (theres no wire, its built into the video/audio out adapter that goes into the back of the 360).
You will need to buy a optical cable though.

Well the PS3 decided to have a dicky fit and keeps crashing (no matter what game it is, what blu-ray or whether im on the dashboard or not...stupid japanese piece of crap) so i was going to use the HDMI cable from that for the time being. Then T0M told me aobut the optical port on the back of the video plug thingy me bob (how stupid is that, why can't they just put it in the normal place).

Turns out i can't use HDMI and the video cable with optical in it, so i've had to resort to using just the video cable. Waste of £10 on another hdmi cable, can't even take it back because the packet has been opened Evil or Very Mad

Thanks for the help though Smile

If you are refering to running HDMI and optical on the 360 then here's the cheap fix. It uses the standard 360 componant/optical adapter and a HDMI cable.
