PostPosted: 21:29 - 17 Jan 2009    Post subject: My Photography Reply with quote

Heya all, Just thought i would upload a of my photos i have taken over the past 12 months or so, i know they are not masterpieces, but i am enjoying taking them, and feel i am slowly but steadily improving and learning more everytime i pick up the camera.

Okay so a bit of background info, my first camera was a simple point and shoot, and to be honest the results i got were, to say the least, gash. But i had been bitten by the bug at a youngish age and wanted to do more. So thanks to my uncle and after saving for what seemed like forever on my paperround i was the proud owner of a Canon EOS 500 with a 28-80 lense. I felt like i was the bollocks, nothing could now stop me on my way to photography perfection, well one thing maybe i had to learn how to use the thing!

As time progressed i got better with the camera and learnt the basics, and the camera served well but i couldn't hide any longer from the digital age, and now working full time after finishing college a Canon EOS 20D was purchased. That was nearly two years ago now, and thousands of shots later i feel i am getting to constantly getting shots i am happy with, which at the end of the day is the main thing Smile

Okay so now you know what kit i'm using, maybe interested in what i like pointing the lense at?? no.......well i'm gonna tell ya anyways Razz My main subject for photography has to be railways, yup i'm a geek if thats what you wanna call me but i just enjoy them and dont really know why! Also enjoy taking pics of all forms of transport. Other then that i enjoy wildlife photography but it can oftern be frustrating. Also slowing moving into people photography and its something i defiantly want to spend more time on this year Smile

SO thats basically a lil bit about what and why i take pictures, its one of main hobbies and just get a buzz from nailing that shot. Now a few pics, if wanted i can post a few more up Smile

On the plus side you have a real good eye for a photograph.

On the negative side a Freudian would have a field day.

Very nice mate, I wouldnt call you a geek for that anyway.

Have you got a high res version of the vulcan or the arrows that could be used as a desktop background?

Fair play for saving up your paper round to get where you want to be, not like some of the spoiled folk eh! Keep it up, O love the one with the cat where there is light below it but nothing bouncing off its eye Thumbs Up

Get your pics downloaded on flickR site, you can meet other photographers, and see their pics and exchange ideas. I've got some of my stuff on there...it's free and a great place to store.

Awesome pictures! Make my pictures look rubbish!

What camera are you using? You must have a huge lense for those plane shots!

I love my photgraphy but for me it's more a numbers game.
I've got the practical side down ok but just don't have a great eye for what makes a nice shot.

That said some editing can go along way to turning a nothing shot into something nice.

I've got a penchant for macro because everything small just looks so damned interesting even though most of the subjects you want to shoot don't want to stay in frame
Very Happy

morning all Smile

Once again thank you for the kind comments Smile

villers mate, the red arrows shots were taken at Farnborough Air Show, actually inside the show, they fly in pretty low for some of there stunts, i guess being in the right spot at the right time Smile

Matthie, as mentioned using a Canon Eos 20D mate, with two lenses, the shocking 18-55 that comes with the camera, i have out grown it now, and should really upgrade but funds just dont allow at the moment, and also a 75-300 lense. This is what the majority of plane shots were used from, only trouble with that is you tend to get camera shake unless you have a very steady hand at them focal points, specially when pointing it at the sky!

Den Monkey, I know where your coming from fella, it does help to have an eye for a photo, which is something a few have told me i have, but hey its something you learn as you keep doing it!! And lol at it being a numbers a game, can make a hella of difference just with a few settings changed! And as to editing i dont really do much at all with my pics, rather get it right with the shutter button then the mouse! Only thing i do is the occassional sharpen and change it into black n white, bout it really Smile and I still can't get my head round marco properlly, but had a go when out an about and got this result
https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3031/2697546937_9027ef88c9.jpg
nothing amazing but i quite like it Smile

Dragonfly, yup as Vee says, its done in paintshop, nothing special just add border. you can do it in Photoshop as well, which is the one i want to be using but its currently on my new computer that got a bug and now refuses to start!

and cheers wave2k, tonka, and its good to see the god father likes the work lol, dont wanna piss off the god father now Smile

take care, will add some more up a bit later Smile
