I went to bed about 2:30am, woke up at 12:30pm today, and had a headache, and i have now had it all fucking day! Whats worse is it doesnt feel like a usual headache, its different to the type of headache i would expect.
Could this mean anything, and should i be concerned? I am getting worried as i cant recall having one that lasted all day and as painful as this one, havent been able to properly concentrate.

Just sounds like a headache or a migrain. Migrains can last for ages! I used to have one about 5 days a week and was on meds to stop them. That was due to my neck injury though.

Have you any other symptoms ? take any pain killers?

I get headaches at the drop of a hat, occasionally wake up with them for no apparent reason. Usually makes the day a bit of a buggerance, I have got used to it to some extent.

If the room temp is wrong, sleep with window/open closed, go to bed at a slightly different hydration/alcohol level than normal. It can kick them off.

The ones you wake up with are normally the ones that will linger all day.

Painkillers do nothing for my headaches anymore, its just something i've learned to live with.

Since getting a job where I have less contact with fluroescent strip lights, they seem to have improved. Who knows, could be less nasty London air and more fresh country air that has done it.

I wouldn't be majorly concerned by a one off headache that you've had all day.

Could be the start of a susceptability to migraines, could be nothing, dont panic just yet.

could just be de-hydration, have you been on the beer a lot?? drink plenty of fluids, water ideally, if you have it for more than a couple of days i'd go to see the doctor.

I'd go with the dehydration like said above - get a good couple of pints of diluted fruit juice or plain water down over the day and you may find that helps (don't gulp down at once, little an often is best! Laughing )

Alternatively, have you been on the pooter more than normal or have you been doing any close work? My brother ended up with really nasty cluster headaches as a result of his eyes straining when driving at night. Changed to day shift and a new glasses prescription - problem sorted. If it persists an eye check may be worthwhile.

Hope you feel better soon though, as headaches are miserable Wink

I have had these thoughts already, brain tumor or some sort of brain disease. . . I thought about going to the doctor but all he will say is, "yeh its a headache, take some tablets".

TBH if your Dr treats you like that get yourself along to see a different Dr!! If you're genuinely worried book an appointment and get it checked out. A good GP will listen to you and assess the likelyhood of something more serious. Don't ever think that you're wasting their time Wink

Ok still getting them? You sure it is actually a headache? Maybe you have hurt a neck muslce, causing you to tense up. Try sleeping with one pillow if you dont already.

Try to avoid the painkillers for a while, to get a true extent of it, try some natural remedies (sniffing a cut open green apple can cure a headache).

But see the doc if you are worried, cause that will only make it worse

Indeed. My DR told me for a year I had stress, I moved back to Scotland and was diagnosed with Diabetes. If your DR brushes you off, complain then get a new one.

It could be migraine
Are your eyes okay? Ie no flashing, etc?

I only got my first ever migraine at the age of about 30, never realy knowing what they were
Sometimes my pre-warner is flashing blind circles for about 20 mins, then the pain kicks in

Get some tablets specifically designed for migraine pain (migraleve etc), then lie in a darkened room.

Mine only last for about a day, my sister gets them really bad, is under the quacks for them. She has them for about 5 days usually. She vomits and all sorts. Need complete darkness otherwise her eyeballs explode!

Take care

[old git mode on] Wink

Get to bed earlier, spend less time in it, your simply wasting your life away in the pit that long.
Get out and get some fresh air on your bike. That brain tumor will soon disapear and if it does not at least you will have died having had some life and not frittered it away in your pit Laughing

When you get older and really need that time in your bed, you will realise how much of your life is wasted asleep.... Karma

you say im worrying, maybe. . . I work with people who suffer with brain damage, one thing that a few of them got brain damage from was a brain inflammation called Encephalitis. One girl had the same headache for about 2 weeks, thought nothing of it, just took some paracetamol and carried on, not worrying about it, one day while shopping she just collapsed, woke up the next day in hospital with brain damage!
You can see where my concern arises from.
I had been to the pub, had a couple but nothing more. I am probably just worrying over nothing, but i never realised how annoying headaches are. You just cant think straight.

I have had permanent headaches for nearly 2 years now, I go to sleep with them wake up with the same one and have them all day,
I take 4 lots of meds each day to keep them at bay.
Before taking the meds i could bearly concentrate on one thing at a time, my kids got the brunt of it with me screaming like a banshee at them.
Cronic headaches I been told, caused by stress and tension. as those two are part of every day life there isnt much chance of me getting rid of them, I have tried to come off the meds but headaches come back full force so resigned to taking them now.

If you go to a doctor make sure you see optition first as the doctor will only tell you to have eyes tested first before he will even consider anything else.

Its very rare for headaches to be anything more than just a headache so stop worrying over them.
