Yes, I know, terribly un-'realman' like... but for a long time people have teased me for looking at the back of packs before buying food... then eating ten times as much of the 'better' food Smile.

Anyway, as I've now gone from hovering around a stone overweight to about two stones overweight after Christmas etc, I really should make an effort.

So can anyone recommend a 'calorie counter' program for Windows Mobile (HTC TYTN II)? Ideally would like it to be able to do ratios of carbs/protein/fat too.

Ideally free, but if cheap and worth it, I'd be willing to pay.

Can't you just follow the Eat Less Pies Diet like all the rest of us, combined with the Walk More Dogs exercise plan, works wonders (when I bother) Laughing

G - You know exactly why you are overweight and that is because as you said you over-eat. Having a calorie counter wont stop you putting food in your mouth, so learn to develop a will-power. All you need to do is create a calorie deficit. So a bit of exercise wouldn't go amiss either. Thumbs Up

But how will I know when I’ve eaten too many pies Hellkat without a computer to tell me? Don’t have a dog; if I did it’d probably be really fat too now!

Sond: Get out!.. I shall presently be investigating how I revoke your access to this section!

Jon: It may well do; I suspect it’ll be easier to convince myself to not put food in my mouth if I can see that I’ve already eaten all I should have, or say see that if I eat something now, I it’ll mean nothing to eat later.
More importantly, yes I can and have in the past lost weight by either severe dieting or just being reasonably ‘good’ over a length of time.
However, I’d like to make an effort to do this ‘properly’; if nothing else, to get the most benefit from eating less; ideally to ensure I have the right amount of everything for getting the most from exercise I do do, etc; thus the requirement for it to calculate calories from the main food types (and I doubt if I write ‘ham sandwich’ on a piece of paper that it’ll work out exactly how much protein is in it Smile ). I suspect it may actually be of more use to ensure I eat enough!... So that I avoid sitting in the ‘starvation mode’ half the time.

Iambic Inc Health And Diet Managerv2.62.Build111.X Scale Smartphone2005 Cracked-SyMPD
Eat Right, Stay Healthy!
When you are constantly on the go, dealing with the demands of your hectic life, usually it’s nutrition that gets put on the back burner. You want to do the right things health-wise, but that takes time and energy – something you don’t have in abundance.

Lucky for you, our Health & Diet Manager for Windows Mobile Pocket PC will help take control of your health and nutrition, so that you’ll actually have more energy – energy that you’ll be able to harness to accomplish more than you possibly thought.

This helpful program does everything from tracking your health-related vitals (resting pulse, blood pressure, hours slept), calories consumed and calories expended, to helping you create an action plan for eating and exercising. Plus, it is easy to use.

» Getting started!

Creating a new profile and establishing your weight loss goal is the first step towards success. Your profile will store the following information:
Name
Birth
Year
Gender
Height
Blood type
Start Weight
Target Weight
Activity level
Password
Additional notes

This information is used to determine useful calculations such as Body Mass Index (BMI), Target Heart Rate and Metabolism, not to mention also serving as a basis for comparison in the future.

As you begin tracking your daily calorie intake and exercise regimen, you will be able to focus in and determine which areas are in need of improvement.

» Track What You Eat

Health and Diet Manager automatically eliminates the mystery behind nutritional facts for common foods as well as food eaten at commercial restaurants.

It comes with an extensive food database which includes menus from various popular restaurant chains (i.e. McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, etc.).

This database is customizable and offers a very easy way for you to add food items as well as whole meals.

Furthermore, for those on diet programs like WeightWatchers,™ Health and Diet manager provides a convenient way to track point balances and map points to meals.

» Easily Track Health Related Data

Part of what makes Health and Diet manager an ideal health management companion is the convenience of it being readily available on a mobile device you carry with you and use on a regular basis. You can manage health-related data including pulse rate, blood pressure, glucose and insulin levels, hours of sleep and more, in real time, while on the go (no waiting!).

» Give Yourself Regular Checkups

The program’s graphing capabilities can provide you with a quick snapshot of various health-oriented statistics, so you can tell at a glance, the progress you’ve made towards achieving the health and nutritional goals you’ve established. You can also export the data to Microsoft Excel for advanced reporting and further analysis.

Cheers for the link N30 Thumbs Up ... I tried to install it first from the mobile it's self (doesn't work as it installs from a PC), then from a Vista laptop, which also failed... couldn't find a compatible phone, despite my phone working with Vista ok and actually seems to be used in some of their web pages.

Anyway, in the meantime I found 'Mobile Coach', which not only does the food and does it seperated out into carbs/protein/fat, but also keeps a track of exercise.
www.biomobility.com/mobilecoach.htm

And for Jon... according to it, today I am actually over a thousand calories under what I should have eaten for losing 2lb a week (which it seems is a reasonable minimum considering other things.)
Not only that, however, it also shows that I need to increase the protein a bit and decrease the ratio of carbs.
