I'm desperate for a new bike!

Am I going to look (gay) riding a yellow curvy SV650s?

Will people see the bike and assume I'm a woman? :o

Its being offered at around £1200, MOT till May, long tax they said...

16000 miles, W reg, apparently her husband is a mechanic and has serviced the bike himself very recently, theyre a member of sv650.org so I'm inclined to be more trusting!

Slight damage to fairing around indy.

Worth it?

its that or go the whole hog and spend 2+k on a 05-06 Pointy one...that I can't really afford, hehe.

I know ooodles of men who ride the sv /svs - and they are not be any means gay.

A mint sv curvy 2001 plate will go for around £2,200 according to UBG, dunno about the svs...but they are a good cheap bike, cheap to run, cheap to buy parts for...I've had no problem with mine, apart from corrosion in the early days. But I soon fixed that!

1200quid for a bike with 16k on the clocks seems alright. Not too old either.

Wouldn't want a yellow one myself but I've had 4 of them and I'm a bloke. But that's only because I prefer them in black/grey. Who the fook cares what others think. They're great bikes.

Ok price, not amazing though.
A couple of years ago I got a similar year SV650 (in red ) for £1k with 20000 miles, decent T&T. It turned out to have a dodgy reg/rec (about £20 to replace), but I don't think the owner knew.
Got a disc lock and a few other bits with it. No damage.

Personally, I'd keep an eye out for a cheaper one myself, considering the time of year.
At least get them down a bit maybe.

However, if it's a case of needing a reasonably cheap bike *now*, probably worth it rather than going without for ages - it's probably an 'ok' price, just not a bargain price.

That's often what I do... basically say "this is what I've got, afraid I haven't got any more, so you'll have to work out if it's worth the money to you or not"... say it while flicking through the notes .

Its ridiculous I work in sales in an industry where haggling is just expected "telecommunications supply" on my insurance

yet I cant haggle from the consumer point of view for the life of me!!!

Well I'd say it's still worth it at £1,200 if it's well looked after, decent chain/sprockets/tyres etc.
If it needs a little work you can haggle over that.
As for it being in yellow - nothing wrong with yellow bikes, not gay at all (unless you have a matching yellow "man bag" or something?).

Lol another slight problem pointed out to me just now is that my girlfriend drives a bright yellow smart roadster, we're gonna look like his n hers! (though mine will be faster...)

You can't tell how the chain in, it's covered in grease and crap from where it's been oiled/waxed from winter use. ;p

Tell them to clean it, then show you the chain. ;p

Check for kinks in the chain where the links have seized, that's a sign that a chain has had a hard life.

Having said that I abuse my chain and a bit of old engine oil or chainsaw oil every 1000 miles during winter gets those kinks out

chain doesn't seem to bad to me..perhaps maybe abit dry of lube?(i duno, I'm probably talking kack) mine's even worse i think. Mines full of stuff, then again, its got loads of chain lube all over on it.
