Here is the best route down the east starting at Ballinluig truck stop on the A9.
Google maps - Most fun down the east - 180 miles
A) Ballinluig - Ballinluig truck stop, refuel, have a wee break and a drink/scran as next few bits are amongst the best roads ever.
B) Aberfeldy
Half way through the town centre you'd take a left and start to climb a bit. The next 25 miles you are basically on the moon. Of course stopping near the end to tell each other of the "did you see that?" and "I was this close to losing it" moments. Silly speeds possible...
C) Crieff
Down through the town centre and onwards towards Gleneagles, where if you have a loud enough can you'll annoy the snobbish Golfers as you ride by the world famous courses. Some truly fantastic roads here, high speed possible...
D) Knockhill Racing Circuit
... through a few little villages and you'll eventually arrive at Knockhill. Hope you brought thermals, its always cold here. The road up to the track can be fun but there is often a police presence here and in surrounding villages. Keep an eye on the speed...
E, F & G) Forth Road Bridge, Edinburgh & Moffat
I only included this as it was on yours. Find your way to the A702 and get onto the A701 heading for Moffat asap, as the most important thing. This road is simply superb. Silly speeds possible...
H) M6 to Carlisle
As said, M6 to Carlisle, which is back into yourland
That route is much better for bikes than yours, it could be better still if you weren't going to Knockhill, as that pretty much means having to go down through Edinburgh unless doubling back and adding x miles.
The bold bits are "must do's" ____________________ Suzuki GSX-R750K4 ~ Mivv GP |

Here is a few super important changes to your route up the west.
Pretty much the same as what you had, but you missed out The Carbeth road (fantastic when its quiet) and of course The Carbeth Inn. Its law that every biker stops here.
Google maps - Most fun up the west - 341 miles
A & B) Carlisle to north of Glasgow
Up the M74, onto the M73 and off the motorway network.
C & D) Various
Through the various towns (including mine ) and onwards towards the start.
E) A809
Also known as the Carbeth road. If you can get this quiet enough, this road was designed by the gods. 8.2 miles of high speed fun/stupidity. As previously stated, you have to stop here. Loads of bikes parked outside.
F & G) First sight of Loch Lomond
Run along through some nice twisty roads until you get to the A82 which will be your friend almost all the way until Invergarry (Punch her in the tits and do her Invergarry).
H & I) A82, Crianlarich & Tyndrum
Following the A82 all the way to Tyndrum, where its compulsory to stop at the Green Welly. You'll spot it on the right as you come into town. Big white building with petrol pumps and depending on the weather anything from 1 bike to 100. Last fuel for 30 miles.
J, K & L) "The Scotsburgring"
Back onto the A82, and after 30 or so miles turn right onto the B863. Just stick to this road all the way round the Loch. This used to be the main road until the bridge was constructed, now its pretty much dead as it adds about 10 miles and only locals, campers and bikers seem to use it. Just out of this world.
M, N, O & P) Fort William to Kinlochewe
As you had. Have left the far north for someone else as I've never been beyond Skye
As previous, the bold bits are "must do's".

Alright guys, it looks like Im not quite a big maybe for this.
I've wanted to do Europe for ages, and if it comes to it, I'm going to do Europe instead of this, because after this year, not very sure whether I'll have as much job "security" lol.
BUT.
I still dont mind helping plan etc, and if anyone needs any help when up in my area (place to stay in newcastle or hull or whatever) then Im totally here.
Also, if time allows, I'm totally coming across to IoM to meet up with you all and have a good blast.
I'm still gonna take part in the thread cos I appreciate being invited along etc. If Europe falls through (which I doubt, but could be a big reason) then I may hop along for a few parts. But maybe not the whole thing.
Sorry guys, hope y'all dont hate on me too much.
We all need to get down to trackdays though. *nods* ____________________ "Oh....it looks like Average Joe's is forfeiting the match!" - "Yeah, its a risky strategy but lets see if it pays off for 'em Cotton." |

Hi, as mentioned in another thread, I'd be interested in this trip...
Provided everyone gets on with me
Big_Ham has met me, and I was at the mayday run from boxhill....not sure who was who though....
For the IOM, I know a campsite which is free near Ramsey, has toilets etc, but no showers....but it's free!
Also, bear in mind, it rains, alot.
I went mid August this year, for 5 days, we only had one day we could actually do the circuit, the rest of the days were so wet it wasn't even worth getting out of the tent! ____________________ Currently Riding - 2002 Aprilia RSV1000 Mille |

I know what you mean. I did that with a 10 month relationship to move to another 20 month relationship.
And ever since I've been single, and loving it. Except for a short 3 week relationship which I ended.
My friend Ben said I seem to always have a girl in reserve.
Not true. Honest. ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600

Any chances of me joining you lot? Can understand if not as I haven't met any one you lot. (Although have seen Fawb from other side of Squires car park without realising)
Big maybe at the moment but I have been planning on doing something like this so it sounds good.
If I keep my 250 money shouldn't be an issue around then, however if I get a new bike, (not sure what yet) it could be an issue.
My 250 is fine and should keep up if you don't blast around at 90+ will/should do 80 on the motorways no matter what (hills/wind etc).
The bit from Isle of Man to Scotland that I briefly saw while skipping over the thread seems alright but chances are that bit of road would be slow as it is always full of tourists threw out the summer. And I mean slow as you got dothery old gits who can't turn a wheel quick enough and then also they start staring a the views and slow down even more

I'm sure it'd be alright.
Bit of a trip for you to come down to Land's End and then JoG though?
Would be awesome to see a 250 Hornet. ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600

Yeah I could perhaps meet and do this best part of the trip.... IOM and Scotland, would make it cheaper too.
Would be nice to say I have done Lands End to John o' Groats, my Dad did it one day this summer just gone for charity.

LE to JoG would be more epic.
Like I've said before to other guys here welcome to stay round mine the night (or two) before as a nice halfway(especially for you) and then meet at LE with the others. ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600
