The real nasty stuff won't matter to us anyway as we'll either be too old or dead if it happens when predicted. Thumbs Up

Global warming or climate change as they like to call it now is all lies.

Climate change is happening, there is no argument against that. It is always been happening and will always be happening.

It just the idea that humans have massively caused and are the route cause of it is total bollocks.

It is mans arrogance that makes him think that he is the cause of climate change.
We have made the planet untidy, we have made some animals extinct ( but they may have been on the way out anyway) But we have no control over climate, the tides, the fazes of the moon.

Nature will always win.

Apparently the world is flat. Apparently we're being visited regularly by aliens. Apparently there is this omnipotent omiescent being that lives beyond the edge of the universe that controls our every move and will get upset if we don't worship it.

Hi

Suspect the main thing that pushed this was the publication of a new report Eric J. Steig, David P. Schneider, Scott D. Rutherford, Michael E. Mann, Josefino C. Comiso & Drew T. Shindell, which seems to have been nicely planned to come out on the first day of Obama presidency. I have highlighted 2 names are they were ones heavily connected with the "hockey stick" temperature graph debacle.

Give it a week or 2 for the climate change sceptic scientists to pull this report to pieces.

All the best

Keith

Does not matter if they do pull it apart theres enough idiots behind this guy..expect crippling taxation to spread across the globe very soon.

Thankfully and by reading the comments on that Guardian article many people are realising Global Warming for what it is a complete and utter political farce. In twenty years this will all be forgotten about. There will be something else to tax us on.

[geek mode]

The only plausible evidence of Climate Change is the oceans are warmer.

Evidence of this can be found by the many largely above average winters. The last severe winter was 1978/79. Since then the amount of snow has been slowly getting less and less.

Only this winter has given us some teasers of what could happen again. It's the coldest so far since 1996 I believe.

Then again, it could just be we are in a warm weather pattern. The winters of the 1920's and 30's were largely snowless. They blamed it on the industrial revolution and said it'd never snow again. Winter came back just as if someone had turned on a ''cold winter'' switch.

I for one am sceptical about global warming. All throughout earth's history there has been warm periods and cold periods.

Exactly Stelmer, a lot of our weather is caused/controlled by activity on the sun, which coincidentally is going through a funny match at the moment.

In a few hundred years people will look back on us and laugh, just like we find it funny that people use to believe in witch craft Rolling Eyes

This winter is meant to be a Hale winter. So far, it's proving correct but it would be nice to see some snow.

Quote from Net-Weather:

Quote:

As far as the Hale cycle is concerned, there is a theory that Britain experiences a cold winter every 22/23 years as a result of a solar cycle (I think) named after the eponymous Hale.

The last winter in the cycle was 1985/86 (CET 2.9c), before that 1962/63 (-0.3c), 1939/40 (1.5c), 1916/17 (1.5c), 1894/95 (1.2c), then it kind of misses a cycle, then 1849/50 (3.5c), 1826/27 (2.8c), 1804/05 (2.8c), 1783/84 (1.2c), 1762/63 (2.6c), 1739/40 (-0.4c) 1715/16 (0.8c) 1694/95 (0.7c), 1671/72 (2.3c).

From that sequence it looks like the cycle was more like 21/22 years in the early years of the series. However, snow lovers will note that if the Hale cycle holds true, 2008/09 is due to be cold.

Incidentally the solar cycle is meant to change in 2012.

Google it. There's some interesting end of the world theories about.....

We'll see if they blame it on GW Laughing Laughing

Did you not see that snow storm on Sunday/Monday? I was up in Halifax fixing bike and was caught in it.

Sorry, I meant proper snow. The kind that is deep enough to slide from roofs and make long icicles.

Last time that happened was 23rd January 1995. Some of you might remember the Freak Leeds/Yorkshire snowfall when we got around 18".

For anyone who beleives in Global Warming, here is not the place to argue about it. You are on a forum full of people who are accused of destroying the planet, and also a forum that is known even by it's members for bieng petty and argumentative. They will not back down.
