Hi All, I've been lurking about on here for a while, and thought I should say hi.

My name's Jonathon, I'm 24 and am hoping to start my biking career shortly. I renewed my CBT just before Christmas and passed my theory last week, just waiting for my mate to get his act together then we're booking a joint DAS course (we have a deal lined up). We're going to try and get it in before the DSA messes with the test again in March!

I'm trying to decide between a Yamaha FZ6 Fazer, or a Honda CBR600F for a first bike. Decisions decisions...

Welcome to biking!

Can I ask why you want such a powerful bike for your first? Not that it matters, but I just thought people liked to build up slowly...

They are not super powerful bikes, they are infact good bikes to begin on...

Go for the fz6 mate, i was knocked off my fz6-n about a month back just waiting for insurance to be sorted out now, awsome fun to be had on it. Good around town as well as the twisties, stick a Bos exhaust system on and it sounds the bollocks Thumbs Up

Thanks for the welcomes. I want to get a bike that's a compromise. I don't see the point in going off and getting a 1000cc as a first bike, but also don't feel I should get a 125 or 250 that I will want to upgrade really quickly. For me a 600cc is the ideal choice, and I must admit I do fancy the FZ6.

Welcome! (if I'm even qualified to say that, I'm still a relative noob on here)

Did my DAS last April at 25. Never been on a bike before that, apart from to do my CBT couple of months before. Then went out the next day and bought a 600 Bandit. Happy days.

Naked 600s are perfect first bikes. You are old enough to be responsible with the power. Anything less and you'll be bored after a week.

Let us know how you get on with the DAS.
