Over the past few weeks I've been uprating the brakes because I didn't feel safe stopping from 70mph on the stock brakes.

Decided to go for Brembo Master cylinders. The Rear is just a Yamaha item. It was taken from an R1.

The front is actually a "Frembo", Its a brembo copy, But I can confirm it is 99% identical to the genuine Brembo Item.

I took it to my local bike shop to get a Banjo bolt for it, And the mechanic was very impressed with it, He sat it along side a genuine item from his stock, And you couldnt tell them apart. He even took it apart and the seals are identical to those from a Brembo unit.

I bought a length of Stainless Braided brake line, Some conections too.

210mm front brake disk from OORacing, 200mm rear brake disk from OORacing. AHP Calipers. Job done.

The brakes are superb now. Still bedding in, But I can do 1 finger braking, Rolling stoppies! Laughing

Can see the size of the disks in the picture. Excuse the shoddy photoshop. I was trying out numbers for my Numberboards.

It's the only way I could mount it without it fouling the rear shock.

I intend to make up a bracket so I can sit it on the outside of the swing arm, And fit a Sikk Brake pedal.

Until then, it will have to do. Works perfectly fine though.

Its probably got alot to do with the span of the lever, as well as the type of cylinder on it.

It works a bit differently to the conventional ones as you can see by the pictures. The Cylinder is also the framework onto the Bars.

VERY powerful. I don't know how well it would work on a bigger, twin caliper bike, But for my little single piston AHP caliper, It is more than enough.

I find myself using 2 fingers, on the very start (Cylinder end) of the lever, And still having more than enough stopping power.

I can easily get it up on the front wheel, just using one finger, on the tip of the lever. Superb unit.

That sounds ideal to me, I have clean and decent condition twin 6-pots with braided hoses and i can get it up on the front wheel, but not without 4 fingers and quite a bit of force.

I always figured with my setup and a brembo master cylinder it would provide truely spectacular stopping power.

Did you have that one lying around, how much do they go for new/used?, i seem to recall a fella on here selling one for around 120/130...

I've been running brembo MC on all my bikes for the last 4 years and the difference is the power it gives as it basically pushes more fluid to the calipers so the pistons move more with smaller adjustments of the lever. on the road can go round stopping yourself with one or two fingers just fine without much effort.

On the track there even better, very powerful and great feel.
the best thing about these are you can take them from bike to bike so far my one brembo has been used on my R1, Gsxr750 and nc30 all worked excellent and better than the standard items.

A big thumbs up from me Thumbs Up

on another note I've heard that the rear brembo MCs are not much better than standard but maybe binge can offer some opinions about that.

As a fan of bikes covered in plastic, is it wrong for me to really like this bike now?

Looking good... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I bought it off ebay. It isnt a genuine brembo unit, But it is near on identical. A genuine brembo seal kit would fit, Put it that way. Thumbs Up

I was running a Chinese rear brake master cylinder before hand, Which worked when it wanted to. I found myself bleeding it every week just to keep it working.

So the rear brembo gets a big thumbs up from me. Although its more or less identical to a regular Japanese item. Just looks a bit nicer.

I was bought it as a little toy for my 21st birthday from my girlfriend. I replaced the plastics with white ones, Then before long, I found I'd spent another £1500 on the original bike. Spec is through the roof now, Everything is uprated. Got Billet 3 piece hubs, Billet end can caps, CNC Yokes, Fast ace suspension, Extended swing arm to keep the front down (or help). Everything has been changed from the stock items. Its such a cool little bike. Smile

I'm moving into a new place in a couple of months, Its got a garden so I'll be building a big shed / garage, And I'll get myself another big bike.

The pit bike will be staying though, Cant part with it. Laughing

Plus, I've re-registered it as a 150cc now. So no little L plate scrote can ever own it. Cool
