my dad recently brought me a bike for my bday (april 14th) its the peugeot XR6, and i have a slight problem.....i have no idea whats "on" for the choke, and whats "off", and i dont want to take the chance and ruin a new bike, ive read the manual, it says nothing about the choke, only to return it to its "0" position, which there is no such thing.

any help would be appreciated.

btw, i passed my CBT today!. ive finally got some freedom!.

Is the choke located on the handle bars?

If so the choke is normally on when pulled down towards you and off when pushed up away from you.

But I can't believe that thing's got 6 gears!!!

I will tell you now that you'll quickly get tired going up and down the gears all the time on a 50cc.

I've never seen them before - I only knew of the Yamaha one, can't remember the name now.

the choke is on the left, at the bottom of the handle, (when sitting on the bike), its a lever, you push it into the middle of the handle bars...and away from it, its just i dont know which is on or off.

In my 'limited' experience, choke levers tend to get stiffer as they are pushed more to the 'On' setting.

Use the lever and see which way is easier. Easier probably means 'Off'.

Just ride it for a while, you won't do it any damage.

If it's been running a while and it coughs and splutters and doesn't accelerate smoothly, then the choke is on, put it in the other position and it should accelerate nicely, then it's off!

As someone said, generally if it's on the handlebar, towards you is on, away from you is off.

Hi

To add to the above, the choke will work by pulling the cable when you want to turn the choke on. You should be able to see which way to operate the lever to pull the cable.
