I will try to tell this as short as possible- took the planet back to garage and got them to fix it, they said I left the fuel off. Told him I didn't but he insisted and cos I was in a rush when it broke down I thought I might have been mistaken. Before leaving I confirmed the on position as being horizontal on my bike. The next day drove to college and broke down half way, just outside of a town called staindrop, in the same way as before, with the fuel DEFINATELY on. Nice guy on a harley stopped to help but couldn't. Got it running and went back into the town for a 'test ride', then the gear linkage broke trapping me in first
Because of this shit, I am getting rid of the bike. I'm gonna get the garage to put it into a road worthy state (the bastards are obliged) then trade it in. Bike mag says one in ok condition with 8k miles is worth £1950. Mine's done 6k and has mild vandal damage so I'm hoping for maybe 1500-1600 from a dealer. Is that reasonable do you reckon?
Gonna take the oppertunity to move up and trade it in for a cheap 400- old ZXR or maybe VFR, hopefully for around £1300. Will I get a reliable one for that?
working this summer so I should be able to afford the insurance hike- worst case I'll move down to TPO from my current TPFT. Just insured the planet for £400, how much more will it cost? (18, no NCB, garaged).
don't see the point in getting another unreliable 2 stroke. Stew- wasn't your VFR £1200- is it reliable? also how have people tackled the restriction problem ( nudge nudge). |

Yeah keen my VFR was bought for £1250, but it needed some attention and I knew the guy who was selling it. Since buying it I have spent roughly £550 on it (plus the price of a race can, I dunno how much that was coz M bought it). But that includes a 24,000 mile service, new brake pads, new rear tyre, and other bits from a breakers yard.
It is definitley worth it though! ____________________ "Unlike public school you don't need to have your arse up and your head down to go a long way...." |
