Yay ! though its only for a couple of episodes at easter!

Quote:
Cult comedy Red Dwarf is returning to TV, 21 years after its initial launch.

The show has been resurrected by digital channel Dave for a two-part Easter weekend special, which sees the cast finally return to Earth.

Friday nights as a kid, fond memorys of red dwarf. Has to be one of the BBC's best comedys.
Now if only they would bring back bottom.

Yes but didn't bottom end somewhat irrevocably? , the last episode I recall was SAS bursting through the windows after Eddie and Richie find a video tape of the royal family in some sort of porn video , and filling them both with bullets.

Yeah but the bottom writers are one of very few that could get away with that last episode being one of eddies daydreams, or an actual dream, and they could carry on... Thumbs Up

I'm kind of hoping it'll be good, as it has the original cast.

Did anyone see the US pilot episode? Now THAT was shite.

Fail, and yes the US pilot was shite.

Red Dwarf, just like Spaced, is about to be dug up and given an unnecessary arse intrusion.

I have no idea why ANYONE though they could create a new Spaced series without the original cast.

I'll bet Simon and Nick didnt actually want them to either.

Glad its fallen through though.

*reminisces about Spaced*

Fucking brilliant.

Im looking forward to it, I like you remember friday nights:

Shooting Stars
Red Dwarf
Bottom

So... Rimmer went on to do a crappy sitcom (Britas empire) and present tank programmes

Lister went on to become a robot wars presenter, then a crackhead and now on some soap

Kryten does his scrapheap challenge thing

and the Cat who used to live near my mum went on to have a moderately successfull film career, and then i hear battered someone...

Which Holly will be coming back? the original one who was the best IMO or that woman?

Either way it should be good, im looking forward to the lack of script, lets hope the fire is still there.

Bottom ended while it was still funny and before it got shit and everyone hated it and the actors in it.

Leave it dead and everyone will think of it as a classic.

Red Dwarf started 21 years ago? Shocked This might just be the first time I've ever felt old.

And they're bringing back Spaced with a different cast? What's the point in that?

I used to think Bottom was funny when I was 14, but I recently bought series 1 on DVD. I watched it once and now its gathering dust on the shelf. Definately not as good as I remember.

Kriten: 'Sir, they've taken Mr Rimmer!'

Cat: 'Quick, let's get out of here before they bring him back!'

They should just re-run the whole lot once a week on BBC2, and be done with it! I'd watch it again and again and again and again... as I'm sure that others would.

Not sure it could work these days...unless they could re-create the same dodgy scenes...and anal humour...

I will watch it, but I'm worried they may ruin what was a damn good thing at the time. Thumbs Up

With you here.

Red Dwarf was getting shitter by the week and ended at a good time. I find it unlikely that it could capture the charm of 10-20 years ago. It's a long time, writers and actors get stale, as we all do.

I'd rather a rerun, too.

I've got the boxset ... so do watch the originals over and over!! Very Happy

Oh and agreed, I actually think the show lost a lot of its charm as the series went on and the CGI played more and more of a role ... the carply animated models where you could still see the strings were all part of the comedy .... Thumbs Up

In my happy little world Red Dwarf finished at the end of series 6.

Any mention of series 7 and 8 are greeted with fingers-in-the-ears la-la-la-la-la-la I can't hear you denial.
