Great, I wake up this morning to find that some scumbags have stolen my oxford cover...unbelieveable. Luckily they havent touched the bike, it's probably just as well i have it anchored to the wall with an almax 3 chain and squire padlock.

I just can't believe the cheek of some people, it's not so much the fact that it will cost me for the new cover but that anyone would break into my back yard and blatently try to steal my bike. Guess I wasn't being over the top with the security....don't let people tell you otherwise.

It was in my back yard, I had it clipped on so it won't have blown away. The cover did have a hole for a chain but it was on the wrong side, I chain the back wheel to the wall via an anchor....The cover doesn't fit on the other way.

It was one of the more expensive covers too. Im just getting a cheap one next time.

If it has been pinched , be extra cautious because its likely they will return to take a part or even the whole bike.

i was just reading an article where a guy had parts stolen from his bike 5 times after the cover was pinched a week so before.

Lock it in your garage if you have one.

Oh come on... You think anyone with a garage would lock it up outside by choice? Rolling Eyes

No i dont but , my neighbours store their car in the garage so the bike has to be outside covered up.

A work colleague has got his boat in his garage again his bike is outside.

Fair point though.

WHAT?! Has no-one told them that bikes dissolve when left ouside too long?! that their car has doors and security unlike the bike?! Good lord!

I need a cover that lasts more than one winter. My last two both disintegrated over a few months with weather and being put on and taken off Mad

Nah actually scrap that, I just need a bloody garage Laughing

I managed to finaly get a garage off the council. My last one was privately rented and I lost it when they decided to develop the site, since then all my bikes and parts have been in my flat - bloody madness. Worth applying for one, if the price is a bit steep, (mines £40 a month), it might be worth sharing one.

Yeah I looked into that a year or so ago. York Council however, decided to offer me an overpriced shed in the dodgiest area of the city, a good 20 mins drive the other side of town from where I actually live Confused and the letter stated that 'If I didn't take it, they consider it the end of the matter' ie like it or lump it completely!!

Shame, as one closer would've been really handy, a bedsit is no place to store random pieces of motorbike!!! Laughing

Just make sure it's chained to your bike next time. That is pretty low to steal the cover though.

Neutral

And do what has been said. Write your name and door number on the side.

Should stop them as they won't use it. If it was out of the way at the time, they have gone to some bloody effort to steal a cover.

Got a new one....£15 off ebay, not as good but it does the job. Would love a garage but there is no chance as I live in a terrace with a very small backyard.

Also the council houses a couple of blocks up from me all got given new garages...they have all been burnt out and destroyed by the local idiots, every time I walk past them it makes me sad lol
