Just wondered if anybody had ever had a go at making their own fairing piece either using an existing piece to make a mold or totally from scratch?

There are quite a few threads on this on the HUBB (horizonsunlimited), where people make their own fairings out of fibreglass sheet and foam. As most adventure tourers take trailies which have no fairing.

I tried to make a fairing and single seat for my FS1E back in the early 80's . .... using wood, expanding foam and sheets of fibreglass and resin.

Its was a bloody disaster.... Smile .... but I figure 2 things are different now:
1) you are not a spotty 17yr old with zero common sense.
and
2) materials and info on how to do this (the internet) must have improved/become cheaper.

Interested to see the final results ... keep us posted Thumbs Up

Bullet in his 'Project Minja' thread knocked up an undertray using the original as a master template.
