This tends to pop up quite regularly, do a search for previous threads on this.
It seems to vary from area to area and shop to shop
Vehicles shouldnt be parked on the pavement, even cars that park with 2 wheels on the pavement are technically not legally parked
In most places as long as it isnt causing an obstruction and isnt in a dangerous position then it should be okay. But dont take that as gospel, as you can still get ticketed for it.
Riding from shop to shop on the pavement is illegal as you arent allowed to use a vehicle on the pavement apart from getting into, and out of private property (driveways etc etc)
I tend to follow the crowd, if there are bikes parked up against the shop wall i will do the same making sure it is tucked out of the way. If there arent then i will just use a car parking space, making sure to leave enough room so a second bike can fit in the space as well.
Doesnt mean i wont get ticketed, just means i wont be alone with the ticket. ____________________ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Surely you can wheel the motorcycle (without straddling it) to the next shop, just as you can wheel it down the pavement/up a one way street? ____________________ Peugeot Speedfight 2 - Honda VFR400 - Honda CB500 |

Then ride it down the cycle path through the park to prove your point .
If I'm popping into a shop I'll often park right outside. I didn't think it was illegal to park on pavements if there was no double-yellow lines etc, but did think you had to leave an appropriate amount of room. I also do it outside supermarkets etc, where there's usually plenty of space.
Recently I've found myself parking in a bycycle bit by the entrace to a pedenstrianised area when popping into shops, but try not to stay too long.
If I'm going to more than one shop, I'll just park one place that's convient and walk between them, then walk back to my bike .
When I was on crutches a few times I just rode (slowly) down some pedestrian areas, did get a few dodgy looks, but not too bad as there was crutches sticking out the back of the bike, which I then hobbled off on after getting off it. |

'Parking a vehicle with one or more wheels on the pavement' is a specific parking offence. I got done for that too about 14 months ago when I pulled over (at a drop-kerb too) to read my A-Z near the Elephant & Castle. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

I do love parking up on the pavement.
I know I shouldn't.
But I can't resist the way people stare, whether in admiration or annoyance, its the show-off in me
I often risk a ticket just so I can park up outside shops on the pavement.
