Can anyone identify colour of Hornet?

Hi guys, this is my first post here!

I looking at a Hornet on a 2001/Y plate and from what I can see the colour of the bike was never made, would this suggest that the bike was crashed and rebuilt?

Any advice would be gratefully received!

It's called pearl white and it's a standard color, just pretty rare. One of the guys on swbikers had one last year (And I suspect he regretted it after we had to do an impromptu bit of light fording at one point).

I had done a little search and come up with the name "pearl white" was just a little worried as it wasn't listed as an option as far as I could see!

How does the price of £2k sound for this bile with £36k miles on, a years tax and MOT included?

Sounds a bit high to me, especially at this time of year, and the relatively high mileage.

Closer to 1500 sounds fair.

Strikes me as a little bit steep given the age and mileage, I'd be thinking more somewhere around the 1.6 to 1.8k mark personally, especially given the time of year and current economic doom and gloom. It's from a dealer I assume? I'd say knuckle down and get haggling, push for a good set of new tyres or a complete full on service thrown in free maybe?

Yep, it's a dealer.

It's got good tyres and they will obviously service it before it leaves the showroom.

I'm going to be paying cash so I would of thought that was a good reason to push the guys down a bit.

The thing with the recession is that I'm sure the dealer will be low on sales, hence needing the highest sale price, so it's swings and roundabouts!

This will be my first bike so any advice on getting the price down is gratefully received!

Hiya.

That's the same colour as mine, but mine's on an 05 plate.

It looks like it's already got a different can, a fenda extenda on the front and (unless my eyes deceive me) a fly screen too. So it's already got some of the more common after market add-ons already fitted.

However, why don't you haggle the price down a bit AND ask the dealer to fit crash bungs and a rear hugger? Both of them have been really useful on my bike and saves you the hassle + cost.

According to the Hornets Nest, the white option didn't come in until 2003 https://www.hondahornet.co.uk/600spec.html an HPI check may confirm the original colour.

The colour change will knock 10-15% off the value straight away depending on how well the job has been done.

I would value the bike (in original colour) from a dealer in the 1600-1750 region depending on condition/service history etc.

Also, don't assume that the dealer will service the bike before delivery unless they specifically say so.

Looks very suspicious to me. As mentioned that colour was from 2003. The bodywork is pre-2003 (the rear tail unit is more rounded) but it has the red infils on the rearsets which I thought were only after 2003. Standard 2001 Hornet had a 17" front wheel but that looks to have a 16" (which were only 98 & 99), the front yoke is rusty which indicates it's been used a lot, and strangely the grab rail has been painted black.

Personally, I'd avoid. Price is far too high for it anyway.

I got 2k for mine last year was a 03 with 14k on it. FSH and that sort of jazz.
