I have my eye on a CG125.

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250366012835&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=015

They want £600. It’s done 30.000. I was thinking of making an offer as it seems a little high, what do you think?

I still have my CB125 twin sitting it my shed but I am not getting it together. Confused Any local mechanics looking for a job. Thumbs Up

Definately not worth £600. I would see if there any better examples around really, or see if the seller will consider the start bid. Thumbs Up

Consider these that are in the same region.

Suzuki GS125

Honda CG125

Suzuki EN125 (2006 - Reserve not met, but only 3 hours left, might be worth an ask?)

I will see if he can deliver the EN.

It looks nice but I don’t know much about them. Thumbs Up cheers mate

Its pretty much Suzuki's take on the CG125. Similar in styling, performance and price. Good solid reputation, parts are easy to get hold of. Single cylinder and naked so dead easy to work on and service. The perfect learner legal bike really. Added advantge of that only being a couple of years old, so no MOT needed yet, looks well looked after too.

If it doesnt sell then i'd email the seller an offer. You've got the right time to buy, winter weather and economic situation means people are less inclined to buy bikes at the moment - which means one thing for us... bargains to be had Cool

Sounds ok.

I just sent him one saying I have £550 cash. I doubt it will make him happy but hey, worth a try. I am stretching my cash just to go past £500

Perhaps I will bide my time a little more.

I was also looking at this. Wink https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=200302780759&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=010

I don’t think it has a Speedo though. So I don’t know if I could actually use it. But hell it looks nice.

Cool Love it!

Could probably stick a Halfords bicycle speedo on for a MOT. No real danger of speeding so it wont be missed. Only thing about it would be spares and the fact it will probably only do about 40-50mph.

I dont actually know, 40 was a guess, but realistically for a bike of that age i wouldn't count on anything over 45-50 really. I would look for a RXS100 or something, they are dirt cheap, will do 65, and its a 2-stroke. Win, win, win Cool

Yea. Sounds like my old GP100.

It was great, but it did blow up as soon as I sold it. Probably due to the owner not putting oil in.

But all the same, unless I see a real nice one I should use my head and go for a 4 stroke.

PS,, Any idea what a garage would charge to get my CB working? Assuming it just needed timing done.

I don’t even know what they would ask just to look at it.

Hmm, couldnt really say for sure. Other than i think most garages charge per labour hour at about £20-£30 an hour. I would have thought no more than an hour or two to be honest. What symptons have you got?

It's too early to say. I have not tried the new bits yet.

I had it running and the engine just revved it's Nuts off for about 30 seconds. Next time I tried I think the electrics had gone because it had been outside for a bit. It is dry now

For all I know it just need putting back together and the timing doing. It was only running on one, but I have new bits for the carbs and the cdi units were checked ok.

You can have a look at this old thread if you like. It makes bad reading though. My grammar and stuff is poor. https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=93468&highlight=

Had a similar problem on my mate bikes, we cleaned the carbs and it solved it but whilst doing it we found one carb had a emulsion tube that was frayed on the end Confused so he bought a new one and after that it ran fine. I reckon if your new carb bits in cleaned carbs, new air filter, new plugs and fresh fuel should be enough to make it run fine. If it doesnt, the high revving could be an air leak?

Sad You never know, he might come crawling back if/when it doesnt sell. Then say you'll give him £450 instead Twisted Evil

I'd be inclined to say £450-£500. It's a learner bike on the road, with no work needed in what appears original condition.

The second one has a had replacement tank, possibly side panels and has had the front mudguard severly cut down for some reason.

Worth a look because it looks like it has been cleaned up by someone that knows what they are doing, but again it should only really be in the £450-£550 bracket.

£600 at this time of year and with the way the country is, is way over the odds. Hold out for a cheaper example.
