Hi guys,

In bit of a dilemma. My fireblade's coming on tuesday and I want to get a race can for it JUST for the sound. Now, i've been searching ebay for some CBR 929/954 bolt ons and I'm in a dilemma.

I've got a choice of

£100 Micron Ti can
£160 Akrapovic SS can

All i want is sound as i believe the bike has enough performance. I'd need to save up for a PCIII too.

So what do you say?

cheers

Tot

Tesco beans can, with always ultra stuffed in to dampen it slightly.

Yes.. i forgot to mention - i'm not ratting out my blade Wink Would be a novel idea tho since my housemates bird's got loads of tampons and my housemates a veggie so he's got an assortment of veggie cans.

Well Micron have gone bust, so it has to be Akra for tart value.

Well the Akky sounds tempting, but then realised i needed to spend the money on necessities such as Tax lol - The bike's fitted with Avon Azaros, so i'm keen to put dunlops back onto them (roadsmarts) since i know what handling characteristics to expect. I don't want to spend 100 on a can but the next cheapest can was a 70 quid CF Scorpion can and tbh, i'm not too keen on them either.

Having owned Micron, Scorpion and Akra Cans I can say that the Akra is the best by a country mile. I had the Akra and the Micron on my Speed Four, the Akra sounded so much better.

Buts as far as I'm awhere Akra don't make any cans in SS only CF and Ti. If some one is trying to flogg you a ss Akra I reckon it is a normal can with an Akra sticker on it. Scorpions sound good but the build quality is poor.

I'd go titanium, not only is it lighter, but it's easier to bend back if it all goes wrong - though it is more likely to bend, steel will probably grind away instead.

Very little difference between the Micron and Akrapovic end cans on my ZX9 - both titanium.

As it is purely for sound, allow me to provide a quick comparison.

Stock exhaust

Akrapovic

Micron

There's an exhaust-ive Rolling Eyes list for you.

Cheers dude.. I didn't have the youtube tabs open when I had the videos playing in the background, so it sonds the same to me. It's whichever is cheapest I suppose.

It's better to have a loud can in central london when a double decker decides it's a good idea to edge out on you (whilst your in his blind spot due to him creeping forward without looking in his mirrors)

Thanks for your help, theres a few microns on bids at the moment that i'm viewing. 929 and 954 zorts are interchangable tho.

Is it not tuesday now, did you pick the bike up yet?

And please, PLEASE do not put dunlop roadsmarts on a blade, for the love of all things sacred. Just try Pilot Road 2's, try them and then send me money as means of a thankyou...

Blade OUGHT to come tomorrow at 10am now that the most of the snow has cleared up.

And Don, Roadsmarts ARE INDEED coming on the blade lol! I could try PR2's. The blade has a more positive handling input than the neutral steering 6R's, and it's lighter, so might warrant the flickable tyres. Depends on my budget. I've got avon azaros on them atm which will probably be utter shite!

Anyway, cans on ebay, there's a few microns going - so if can get em for 60ish quid, it's sorted. There's also a nice harris Ti system on my bid list. I'm not too fussed about any of them 2bh, just want roartier sound for the cheapest price - then i can put on tyres, then PC, then fettle suspension.

So expect McGee style pics tomorrow!

I'm tempted to keep the standard can, it sounds lush. Not as abrasive as the 6R. Sweet and light
