If you're in the wrong lane for the exit or turning you were told to take, do not make errors in attempting to take that direction. Continue on in the direction your lane takes you. The examiner will then direct you back onto the test route.
You cannot be failed for going the wrong way. ____________________ Peugeot Speedfight 2 - Honda VFR400 - Honda CB500 |

When approaching a mini-roundabout, listen to the way the examiner gives you directions.
"Left at the roundabout"
"Right at the roundabout"
"Straight ahead"
etc.
This may save confusion as to whether or not the exit going off at an odd angle is left/right (and so you need to be indicating) or straight ahead ____________________ Peugeot Speedfight 2 - Honda VFR400 - Honda CB500

Good topic. I'll only add a few of obvious ones.
When doing the u-turn, keep your head up and look right round where you want to go, try and finish inline with where you started.
With the emergency stop, i'd recomend slightly tapping the back brake as i found it easier.
Check your mirrors when slowing down or speeding up.
When giving way on zebra crossings, remember to wait untill they are completly off the crossing (Don't forget the lifesaver before pulling off).
Safety questions for bike riders A.K.A. Show me tell me questions. |

1. Indicators - On the emergency stop I left mine on as I went round the block. Luckily no other car was around at the time and noticed it before pulling up after the stop. 'Push to Kill' is a good phrase to drum in to your head whilst riding.
2. Bus Lanes and lane discipline - Know your route and check whether you are allowed in bus lanes at certain times of day, dont forget your lifesaver before turning left! If you feel something is creeping up on you, take a quick look as it may become a serious on your scorecard.
3. Be in the correct gear - May sound daft but a 30mph road should only require 2nd-3rd gear, if you have to make a sudden move or emergency stop, it prevents spending precious time trying to figure out your gears. ____________________ DAS Passed 19th April 08. 07' YBR125 > Yamaha FZ6 S2 '08 > 1998 YZF600R ThunderCat |

If you're at a junction/roundabout and you get the chance to pull off leaving the examiner there, do so.. you get valuable time where he/she cant see you fully and more chance of not getting marked down on anything
i did this 3 times on my test, passed with 0 minors ____________________ Current bike: 2005 Triumph Speed Triple 1050 :: Previous Bikes: 2001 Kawasaki ZZR-600 E9 (Sold) 1996 Yamaha Diversion 600s (Sold),1997 Honda CB250 Nighthawk (Sold), 1988 Honda VFR 400 NC24 (Written Off), 1987 Honda CB350 S-G (Sold), Yamaha DT125 (Sold), Honda X8R-S 50cc (Stolen) |
