Brake Lines

Having fitted new bars to my bike I need to fit a longer brake hose. At the moment it has three, one from the master cylinder to a splitter then two from the splitter to the calipers.

Is there any reason why I can't leave out the splitter and just fit two long lines to the master cylinder with a dual banjo?

Is there any benefit to the splitter other than making things look tidy?

Any good offers out there for custom brake hoses?

Hi

No real reason, and will be cheaper (although even cheaper would be to just use one new hose from the m/c to the splitter.

In theory 2 hoses means more area to expand compared to the 3 hose kits, but doubt this will make any noticeable difference.

Down side of a 2 hose kit is routing the hoses to avoid them rubber or catching on anything.

I had considered just changing the top hose but the bike is a 22 years old and the hoses are original. The front brakes have never been good despite complete rebuilds of the calipers and MC.

How about these? Seems a good price.

Hi

Seen those before and they do look like a pretty good deal. What bike is it?

To be honest for the cost of an extra £10 I would just keep with a 3 line setup.

They are for my Virago. I agree, I'm going for the three lines. Just need to find out the correct lengths.

I use Earls hoses,front has a splitter built into the hose.
