If you look at this particular clip, there is no way he is doing 50 behind the car. That speedo is in kmh.

Not so sure - the gearing seems right if you look at the revs/gear/indicated speed.

Do you actually ride a bike or drive a car OP?

If you did you would realise those speeds look legit.

Your a load of bull.

I have the full quality version on my pc, he tops it out at 186 in 6th which is what they are limited to. The speedo is right and in mph. Rolling Eyes

How did you work that out? If it was downgeared, it would still top out at an indicated 186mph.

The speedo is right as far as speedos go. Wink

Ie, it is not in km as the OP suggested.

I don't know, I love the whole video so am pointlessly arguing it's case. Laughing

I drive a car but not a bike yet.

I just feel for some reason the sense of speedd does not come across. Its suprising.

The sense of speed doesn't come across so profoundly on film.

the only thing thats wrong on that Vid IMO is the error the manufacturers have built into the speedo.

on a runway i've seen a GSXR 6 reach a max indicated 16something mph, the speed trap reported 147mph, an R1 had an indicated 172, speed trap said 157 (the fastest on the day)

Aprilia speedo's on the other hand were very accurate, my Tuono - indicated 152, actual 147. An oldish RSVR - indicated 157 actual 152.

jap speedo's lie Thumbs Up

Usually because the jap speedo's take the drive off the front sprocket, so chain stretch and tyre wear both affect the speedo, whereas on Aprilias they tend to use a sensor on the rear brake disk so only tyre wear can make it less accurate. Wink

No, when you're actually riding your sense of speed is normal. It's just when you watch videos it tends to feel much slower than it is.

It's an offence for a manufacturer to sell a bike with a speedo that under reads.

All standard bikes have speedo's that over read by 5%-10%. It's exactly the same with cars.

Sorry for this spammy post, by the way guys.

Now I have thought about it, it does look faster than 30. I think I was clutching at straws more because for the rest oft he video, it really doesnt look like he is doing 150, etc

TBH mate, I really dont think that a little bit of stretch in the chain is going to make any noticeable difference to the speedo reading, same thing with tyre wear, it migh make a teeny weeny bit but nothing in the league of 15-20mph Wink Wink

Honda are currently fighting a class action suit in the States because of the value that overreading speedos knock off of vehicles.

Older vehicles bikes, cars, whatever could be out by 10% eitherway which is why there used to be some flexibility in the law. I think that all stopped in the Nineties though.
