04/05 Fireblade

Looking at getting my new bike in the next few months really hoping to get an 04/05 10R but have also been looking at the Fireblades of the same year.

Would like to hear from anyone who had owned/ridden one? To give their opinion on the bike, dose it have any niggles?

I know its not going to be as mental as the 10R which is not the end of the world because I will mainly be using it on the road, and for a bit of touring with the odd track day thrown in.

Amongst my friends there are a gaggle of each bike and each owner obviously says theirs is best!!

I've ridden both (not my own bikes) and I prefer the Kwak because ir fits me better, I find it more comfortable.

As far as performance and handling goes, well, they were both well beyond my maximum riding capability so it wouldn't matter which to me from that score.

Have rode an 05 blade (my brother in laws). Very solid bike, felt stable at speed - smooth power delivery and more than you could realistically use.

Only issue I had was the state I made of his tyres after borrowing it for about a week. It had something like super corsas on which felt ok, he then put 014s on and it felt a bit better with them for me.

Is *much* *much* more stable at speed than my 600rr and feels more planted. I can't compare it to other 1000 sports though unfortunately.

Found it wasn't as flickable as the 6rr but made up for it in power delivery/stability.

I think they are all much alike to be honest though, go for what fits you best and whatever one you like the look of.

got to say i`m a bit biased towards the zx10r as i have owned 2 .
went for a test ride once on a blade 2005 version and found it rather bland.

so if you want fun and exitement i`d go for the kwakker

if not ride the honda

i had a quick go on a 05 blade after buying my 10r, it was probably equal on speed/power but not so "in your face" as the kwack, it depends how you like your bike i come from a 02 blade to my 04 zx10r and the blade was/is probably a better all round bike but the zx10r just feels special (like i do calling a bike special )

I have no point of reference as I have never ridden a Honda motorcycle I'm afraid, but you certainly won't be disappointed with the 10R. I could easily tour on it too, it's comfier than I expected. Even if you don't like riding it you could sit and look at it in the garage, don't think I could with the 'Blade:
