Been meaning to to the Isle of Wight festival for ages, but never really got around to it.
I see tickets are available now.

Anyone been?

I normally go to Reading and Glastonbury festivals fairly regularly.

Oops, yes.

Out of interest, what are you comparing it to when you say 'Great Atmosphere'?

The atmosphere at Glastonbury in 2000, a recent Glastonbury, Reading, or the Big Chill could all be described as 'great', but for very different reasons.

I hve foud it has mad me spellin worser than urs Laughing

It seems to have more of a "edge" or a "feel" of qualaty ( lol )

More focus on entertainment than pure profit ie the sound system.

Age group seems to be slightly higher ( again due to the skunk) Very Happy

Maybe the LAST thing i wanted to @ Glaston was the old Welsh tart Birley Shassie and " performers" of her ilk at a "ROCK "gig

Each to their own but music matters ( alot) it costs a small fortune to get in and i really want VFM. The IOW has and does it better

There doesn't tend to be a massive amount of music I like at Glastonbury - though enough that I can find 'something' generally. Hopefully this year will be a bit better than last.
Still gutted I missed the year that REM and Radiohead played Sad.

I thought I'd seen some quite good line ups for IOW in the past.

As you say Glastonbury offers so much more than the music, that you're never going to be bored. I'll, I expect, be making a proper go of Glastonbury; ie Wednesday morning to Monday midday, while for the Isle of Wight it'd probably be Just Friday and Monday off work.

Hmmm, I suppose, presuming they do sell out, if I just get a ticket, I can always sell it on for what I paid later if I decide not to go.

Erm Confused, you missed the tickets by a day if you put the £50 deposit down.
There was talk of some more being 'released' today, but nothing I can see.

At Glastonbury I am quite happy to wander around watching random stuff and have found some stuff that I quite like from that Thumbs Up (not music, but like this which I bought)... however it's nice to end the (main entertainment) with a big band - I prefer 'heavier stuff' to jump about to.
On that, one annoying this is now there's more and more going on through out the night, there's less time to sleep for someone like myself that can't really do it in the sunlight... and I prefer not to end up zombie like after only a couple of hours sleep.

lol yeah i thought i did but aparentley my bank account balance was 70p or something Confused and im unemployed now so its kind of a good thing that happend because i wouldnt off been able to find a hundred quid lying around yesterday Neutral the only anoying thing about it is the registration , if i miss out on a ticket theres no way i could get one later of ebay or a tout

yeah theres defentley of abscence of heavier stuff at glasto but its just that kind of atmosphere , oh well if i cant go glasto it will have to be download instead Razz

ive only been once before wich was last year and after that i never want too miss out on one again Very Happy

I've generally avoided download because it looked even more comercial than Reading etc.

First year I went to Glastonbury was 2000 (the biggest year), with NIN headlining on the Friday Night... I did have a little 'extra' that night and it was an amazing experience moshing at the front to them then!
(Comparatively, I was rather disapointed in 2007 at Reading when I found myself pretty near the front watching them... on crutches and doing fine.)

The 'main' ticket sale for Glastonbury is still a couple of months away... but I saw something suggesting there wouldn't be many at all for sale.
However Glastonbury is known for 'massaging' the impression of number of tickets left.

Edit: my-bad, guessing there are tickets available at the mo:

ive heard about download being commerical but to be honest its all about the music and haging out with freinds to me , i wouldnt avoid a festival just on that basis

yeah atmosphere you get for a band is all down to the crowd , at reading last year rage had a massive mental crowd , metalica didnt even pack out the front circle Confused

yeah the last batch is due to be released april aparently , although i heard on the news 90% of tickets had already been sold , last year they didnt even sell out at the end , and were flogging them at the gates on the day Smile

if it all fails , the cost of a skydive is less than a ticket so i think ill just skydive into glasto Laughing

I was a bit disapointed by 'atmosphere' at rage - for a start we were moshing with a pit that was maybe starting four or five back from the front. The time before they played there was no way you could have got a big pit right in the middle near the front... 'back in my day' etc... I'm of the definite opinion that the silly 'circle' barriers have sapped a large amount of fun from such things Sad.

How's the camp sites at Download? People complained about Reading last year, but while I didn't really join in and would have been annoyed if my stuff got burnt... it was nice to see some 'life' left in people.

yeah the circle barriers are total bollocks , they make getting to the front alot more anoying , i got quite caught in quite a few decent pits at rage , they were apearing all over the place towads the end , at the start the whole crowd rushed forward and it all got a bit to cramped for a mosh pit , one of the best live bands ive seen wihtought a doubt , it makes it so much better that rage didnt alow it to be recorded Cool

the nightlife at reading can get a bit mental lol , tent burning is out of order but on the monday we made a huge fire out of abandoned tents i havent been to download but im freinds with people who regularly go and theyve never had problems , they said all the people there are really chilled out and freindly , last year they spent nearly a whole day smoking a ounce of hash with a random bloke and his kid Laughing
