Hi

There was a bike on ebay, starting bid of £900 & BIN of £1500.

I entered my max bid, £1250, the BIN dissapeared.

36 hours later the auction ended early - without BIN being used - and my bid was cancelled without explanation.

The auction didn't say "advertised elsewhere... reserve the right to withdraw etc"

Anything I can do?

not really.

You can report it to ebay using the 'report this item' at the bottom ... they will then log it and if he does it 3 times or something, they will ban him Rolling Eyes
It is also against their rules to use "advertised elsewhere" wording .. so report that if you want.

And in theory if you are the highest bidder when the auction ends, you are the legal winner and owner of that item ... BUT even ebay themselves say its not worth the time and money to bring legal action.

I see this at least 3 times a month ... people auction stuff.. realise they are about to get f*ck all.. and then remove it
I rang ebay at least 6 times ... but have resigned myself to simply reporting it to ebay now.

no this is actually how cruddy ebay has its flaws - a friend of mine done the same thing but was selling something - however as soon as someone bid the buy it now was removed even though he had paid for it - so on the phone he went. Turns out that on certain items as soon as you bid the buy it now is removed, its only in certain categories its nothing to do with the seller its to do with ebay removing the icon for unknown reasons ( reasons they couldnt even say on the phone).

But more in relation... ebay sellers can pretty much do what they want as long as their buyer hasn't sent payment if the auction has less that 24 hours to go unless they have a pretty good reason they can cancel the auction and just make up a reason eg just serviced the bike and realised there is a crack in engine casing - then they file the item for cancellation - you can report him or her but you probably wont get anywhere but it will release some anger on your part - just think of it as a lucky escape if hes doing something dodgy do you really think that would be a person worth doing business with?

Are you sure that the buy it now had disapeared for you because you had bid, but for another person the buy it now could still be there?

Buy it now disappears after the first bid unless there is a reserve price too, then it will go once the reserve has been reached.

If the bike has been listed in eBay motors, you can end it early to someone outside eBay :-

Agreed Thumbs Up Have had things listed before with a Buy it now and as soon as someone bids the Buy it now option disappears. Makes you really glad you paid the extra to list it that way!
