Dear All,

For once, a serious message: We have received a warning at the London Ambulance Service and have been asked to pass on the information to all our families and friends.

The LAS have units closely associated with the Police 'D.A.R.E.' squads based in South London who are basically fighting Gang Crimes.

The 'street gangs' in London (particularly South London at present, but it is sure to spread) have initiation tasks which new gang members have to carry out to be admitted to the 'gang'. The latest craze is to drive around, deliberately with no lights on their cars. The first person who 'flashes' them, points at them or sounds their horn at them, has to be followed by that new gang member in their car, who then has to fire a shot into that vehicle !!! with no regard as to who is inside.

Our official instruction is that if we see a vehicle with no lights on, we are NOT to 'flash' it etc. and the advice to friends and family is that you should ignore any vehicles you see without lights.

I would ask that you pass this info on to all your family, friends and colleagues by phone or e-mail, and who knows, it may save a life!

Its a lovely world we live in, isn't it.

Classic Urban Myth! It probably has happened once or twice somewhere in the world, but I would doubt that email was real. It's never in the papers for example (not that they're exactly truthful).

Maybe I won't flash just to be on the safe side. Wink

It is a hoax! This is an American thing which was genuine over there but has not standing here in the UK.

There is a website in the USA which says what you have just said word for word with input from the Arizona (I belive) Police Department and I have had it checked out here with some of my former colleagues when a work mate also received a similar e-mail from his wife who works at the Royal Berks Hospital.

It is a hoax!

Bloody hell, and this was from a guy who is usually really reliable about stuff, he checks things to make sure they are not hoaxes...I too can usually spot them a mile off but this one got me. Sorry everyone.

However, it gets you thinking though, if someone mucks about with you while you are on the bike and you say the wrong thing they could pull out a gun and shoot you! Hopefully the kevlar in the jacket will take some of the impact!

There was a black ninja around Shepherd's Bush in London that was part of a bikejacking thing.

Apparantly he'd come up beside you at the lights, chat to you to distract you while the heavies came up behind you. You're off the bike, one of them's on and gone. Confused
