Meh the DVLA are taking the proverbial , I suspect the guy who I bought the bike off couldn't be bothered to send off the V5 , so I sent in a V62 around the middle of January.

My finances have taken a turn for the worse though and I need to get rid of the Africa and the CBR the CBR is no problem I have the V5 sitting in a ring binder on a shelf behind me.

The problem is the Africa I don't have the V5c for and the DVLA only seem to say its being processed as we speak I've made about 4 calls to them..

So is it advisable to sell it sans V5c? , I only have a photo copy of the V5c/2 the new keeper suppliment.... its frustrating as hell as people make offers to swap for things such as TE610s , TT600Rs etc or even breakers make fairly decent offers and yet I can't do anything about it....

No wonder people are driven to send them bombs........

I keep having a picture in my mind whereby the entire DVLA office starts 'work' 930am, and just sits there drinking tea all day.... and that with new car sales collasping they have nothing to do and just chuck incoming post into the bin......which is probably not far from the truth.

Yet another example of all the pointless paperwork and hoops to jump through , Sad

Any thoughts?.

Thanks.

All depends on the person buying ... it usually takes the DVLA 3-6 weeks to send a V5 out, so you might get it before a buyer appears ... waiting myself for the V5 for the GSXR750 SRAD I just bought on Monday.

Just be truthful when advertising the bike and explain situation about the V5 ... if anyone is interested enough then it won't be a problem.

Good luck Thumbs Up

You are right.

But if you could shift it via this site, many would be prepared to take you word for it Mr. Green

yeah but I can't shift the CBR or the Africa via BCF though so thats a dead end.... even a low (about 20% less than equal bikes on ebay).

What Barry said.

We have bought bikes with no V5 at all in the past (in fact the XJ didn't have one) and also sold them when we have misplaced them.

If you sell it "as is" with no V5 you can either ask a little less money for it or offer to fill out the V62 for the new seller there and then along with the cheque (think it's £25 now).

The government want it to be virtually impossible to trade vehicles without a V5, but all thay have managed to do so far is make it a bit more difficult and a lot more expensive.

Could you may be ring the DVLA while a buyer was there to confirm the V5 was on it's way?

Personally I wouldn't buy or sell a vehicle without a V5, however on the one time I left it in the glove box of the car I'd just sold Doh! I found the DVLA very helpful.

I wrote to them and explained how careless I'd been and that I no longer owned the vehicle and it was no longer in my possession.

As I had the buyer's details I also informed them that this was in my opinion the new registered keeper, everything was fine and they wrote back saying they'd amended their records accordingly.

I think if you are going to sell a vehicle without a V5 then you should be honest and upfront as soon as possible.

I once drove to North Wales to buy a vehicle only to find that when he said he "hadn't got the hand book" he actually meant he "hadn't got the log book (aka V5)" to say I was annoyed is an understatement.

yes but Babs you are the most trust worthy disarming person I have ever met, you meet a couple of random strangers at a bike meet , riight lets go back to my place for a barbie and beers!.....

I'm going to wait one more week and if it doesn't arrive I'll try that method, the annoying part is of this unemployment is that I'd go off to Europe to practice some off roading in Spain on the Africa bit without the V5c I can't leave the UK...
