which boots??

just a few thoughts am lookin for new boots and was after anyones advice am lookin at the sidi vertigo corsa,s or the arlen ness 1064 cheers chris

The shin should have some protection on it even my £30 monzas had a hardened shin useful for traffic cones...

you should not be able to bend the dole downwards.

then its a case of ankle protection and such like

Well for me a decision between buying one boot over another is down to if I want one that is waterproof. Quite like my sidi rain evo's, might go for the sidi B2 next. My only gripe is that I busted both zip pullers and the soles wear quite fast.

Bought a pair of sidi b2 goretex boots last weekend which are dead comfy, have plenty of protection all over and are well.... waterproof they also look the sex too imo.

The sidi vertigo corsa's are technically a good boot. Mine have seen a bouncy rolling off without damage to me and just slight scarring to the boots. The problem with them is that they are not made to as high a standard as you would expect from the price. The closure system across the foot part has snapped on one of mine, the red adjusters keep falling off and both zips have snapped. Bit poor for such an expensive bit of kit.

I;m actually that disappointed by them that I wont be buying Sidi boots again. Having said that my second hand Sidi Vertebrae were spot on and were in good nick when I sold them on after 12 months of wearing them.

Has anyone tried the sports boots by puma?

If you go with the Sidi boots, keep an eye on your toe sliders, some of them like to take chunks out of your tail unit if your not careful.

I have some Alpinestars SMX-4 Waterproof and am very happy with them. Nice and strong and not too uncomfortable whilst walking.

Heard various bad mumblings about the durability of the Puma race boots, nothing first hand mind, but my local HG had nothing good to say about them even when they had them at a silly discount.

I'll give another nod for AStars, my SMX4-WPs are approaching 2 years of really heavy use and they are still 99%, even the zip tags haven't broken, the velcro isn't as grippy as it once was but beyond that I can't fault them at all.

alpine stars all the way..
so comfy .
i had a pair of smx plus that lasted over 4 yrs with a couple of offs thrown in for good measure,,still good enough to use as winter boots..

as said before lots of people have quality issues with newer sidi boots and change over to alpine stars because of this.

the arlen ness boots sell very well and you have to try them to see if they fit because of the ankle armour is quite stiff.

but at the end of the day `ya pays ya money ya take your choice`

I have got a pair of Arlen Ness 1064 boots...


...they went back for replacement (into HG Stoke actually) after only 200 miles because the velcro was so strong on the zip cover flap that it pulled its stitching loose!


I am very careful with how I undue my boots now, but my confidence in them staying in one piece has been shaken.


Having said that, they break in nicely and are comfy to ride and walk in.


These replaced a pair of Sidi Vertibra that have seen almost 3 years and 7k miles with only a broken zip pull (zip is still functional).
