Bike Prices - Time for another big bike

I'm looking at getting another big bike for the Summer. My Restriction period is over so I can ride anything now.

I would like something along the lines of a Gixxer 750. It certainly has to be 600cc+

Looking to spend around £3000.


I've lost touch with the biking world since I got the Pit bike, So have no idea how much to expect to pay for say a 6RR.

Had a poke around on ebay but nothing really tickles my fancy.


What do you guys think?

i think if its a 6rr your looking at, 3k will get you a pretty decent rr3 0r even rr4 at a push, or if your not too fussy about cosmetics maybe even a rr5.

If it was me i would probably go for a rr5 as they are a much better bike and you seem to get a lot more for your money, more up to date looks, usd forks and a few other bits and bobs i cant remember.

For that money you could get an early GSXR1000, or R1 etc from a similar age if you want really silly-fast.
Might even be able to find an early ZX10R for that if you're very lucky.
Nowt wrong with a GSXR750 either, of course.

We're from the same era mate lol, 3k will get you any capable thou to be silly with (or in my case, be sensible on).

There's an SP1 on visordown for £2400 IIRC, give the guy a PM. He's based in Kingston, SW London. I was looking to get that until I decided on a blade instead.

I like the look of the K2 Gixxer Thou.

I've always fantasized over the TLR1000, But have heard LOADS of reports of people saying they are over rated. I dunno.

Would do anything for an SP1. But then its getting out of my budget really.

You're saying 2400 for a SP1 is out of your budget!

That said, "budget" for me includes stuff like

Tyres - personal preference
Insurance
Lighting mods

That said, it's at least £600 which you need to factor in.

You could get an SP1 for 3 grand no problems at the moment. I linked one in my old thread that was right at that price point, and it only had 12000 miles on it

dont wuote me but the earlier tlr's up to r reg have slightly more power than the latter ones.

myy dads got a mint 4thou miler r plater in the garrage (got quils + power comander) and dont qquote me on this but apparently its faster than a rsv-r and a 929 blade and can give almost any bike a run for its money on a rolingstart if you can keep the front end down.

not my words 'cos ive only been on the back once and never again


seems pretty fast and my dads mates that have had ago on it have been impressed with it and said its fast as f00k (blade owners / rsv-r/ black bird / rq1)

TL's are rapid. Yes, I think it's the pre 00's were more powerful. Not sure on the figure. 125bhp rear wheel and good for 170mph?

JammyG had one and it was silly fast... that said, it's not all about speed and power with thous; you need the finesse and handling to shine through because you can easily obilitorate 85% of ALL other road users on a thou.

Buy on condition respective to your price... I've got to say from personal experience, Cat C's make VERY GOOD bargains - it might have been stacked on track or on the road, but if repaired to factory standards, you get a price drop, and you'd be laughing.

Get a 99/2000 Sports 600 and Mod the fuck out of it Binge, it seems to be your style.


Go the whole hog and get it set up absolutely perfectly for yourself.


Personally when I was looking at new bikes I wanted to leave a thou for something new to look at in a few years, so when for another 600. Admittedly...I have different uses for both my 600's. The kwak is perfect for trackriding for me.


Think I might be going a bit bigger for the road though, this summer.

An early GSXR 750, perraps '03 could be picked up for your range pal?

Failing that, the zx7r was a BSB class bike...and is known to be planted as hell. But then I bet you're scared of kawasaki's (dont talk to Wave!)
