There was once a time when everybody went to china to get their HID's, particularly by going to diane-shop's page. Now, we all know that it costs about £40 for a set including delivery, but customs charges are a bit hit and miss. I knew i needed on for the 929 and i was happy with the one I had on the 6R, but I wasn't bothered going for chinese sellers.
So i was searching about on ebay for UK only sellers and came up with this dude's page.

So I thought to myself, i only needed ONE ballast and headlight and associated wiring so i didn't need the parcel to be sent with the box since it's a bit pointless, especially when we can fit it ourselves so I wanted a huge discount! Some UK sellers only sell twin kits, and I weren't prepared to pay for that. I contacted him and paypalled him 35 quid which was for the HID ballast, bulb and delivery (couldn't care less if it had a warranty or not, because i had a spare bulb anyway). Score, Chinaman prices from a UK seller - came within a week of ordering.
I was disappointed when the package came because i thought that it was incomplete. The jiffy packing was to my expectation however. But being a n00b, it turns out that the newer style ballasts are digital and have inbuilt circuitery so don't require the associated relays and swtiches and power coming from the battery to start it up. Contacted Martin (the seller) and he reassured me that it's simply plug and play. Sorry I couldn't get a photo of the kit, but it's pretty much the same as what they have in the ebay auction (just no box).

So what you have is one digital ballast with +ve and –ve leads to the bulb and you have the power/signal feed in the form of spade connectors which connect to the original H7 plug for the headlight. Installation took pretty much 5 mins. I popped off the bulb, replaced it with the Xenon bulb, and with the ballast in place, it was ready to go.

Here’s the xenon bulb with wires threaded through the protective rubber boot. The original H7 plug is shown in the middle.

There’s the ballast. One the 929, I’ve mounted it on the RHS fairing infill with the rest of the leccy wiring. It’s out of the way and doesn’t mess about with the steering. No cable ties required.

So there’s the 4300K light with beam aimed correctly. Pilot lights will be replaced with LED’s in due course.

I also tarted up the rear end by fitting A LEGAL SIZED PLATE! YES A LEGAL SIZED PLATE, supplied by Roryplates as usual because his plates are generally better made than some of the crap I bought in the past. Bike came with 7x5’s but I didn’t like the idea of taking the piss so I just want to be as legal as possible when I go out riding, especially if i’m getting a race can.
But the HID kit is awesome because it’s literally plug and play. The fact that you don’t have to mess about with wiring that leads to the battery means that your steering remains unhampered. The wires and cables on my old H4 unit for the Ninja often got snagged by the steering. But top marks to these guys for being helpful and for understanding my requirements. For £35, it’s definitely much better than the old bulbs I was using and a marked improvement. It’s cheaper than china prices, it’s UK based and you don’t have to worry about customs charges. If you’re somewhat mechanically competent, well you don’t even need to be that, you just need to make sure that you can connect two wires, I recommend getting this kit. Doddle to install!

What's this? A modification that's actually benefitial for day to day riding? And there was I thinking you were going to clad the thing with stick on carbon.
Doesn't seem to fiddly to do, might adopt a system onto my bike.  |

I might make a collar to sit on the bulb holder to aim the light slightly downwards. I ought to think that it will pass MOT since the aim and pattern is roughly the same as original. Unlike the 6R, the 929 has a better reflector design.
I like my bikes practical. My 6R was a very good day to day machine, it had everything you could think of

LED's all round (I like the better response and brightness from LED's - the viewing angles aren't an issue for me)
Everything else is tart - after tyres, I might be tempted by a cheaper race can. I've been stung for another 190 quid for insurance because it turns out my NCB is actually 2 years instead of 4 due to my accident in 2009, which is still good - 600 to insure blade at 21 with 1 claim and 1 conviction; still cheaper than my 125 when i started riding, and with inflation and pound devaluation, it's still cheap IMO.
Most of my project's related to this bike will NOT be "hey look at my carbon tat" OR "I installed a new can"... i believe in the ethos of practical sportbiking and just want to share it with peeps who have similar values so that they can benefit. I'll do the chain oiler installation later once I've gotten it.
Honda is soo smooth - what's this fuel injection glitch? I don't notice it

On my ZX6R, i bought the HID units from a guy on ebay called Diane_shop or Dianne_shop. The guys on MCNninjas did a bulk order of 20 or so kits from them. The price seems reasonable from a hong kong or china seller, but you've got to be wary of a good few things. Remembering your project threads, i'm sure that installation will be a doddle for you despite the poor instructions and the need for customised fits.
They were pretty good units although they're not as easy to install because you'd need to find a place to mount 2 ballasts. You need to ensure that the length of the cabling can reach from the battery (where it takes its +ve and -ve supply for the relay and igniter from) and i had to bodge the terminals from the ballast in order to get the signal feed from the H4 light bulb plug; since H4 dipped and high beams come from the same bulb.

But from what I have to say, I think the 35 W jap import bikes use H4 terminals BUT you may have to bend the pins on the headlight collar or use the appropriate spaces because if you look at here:

On the 400/250's, the prongs that stem from the ring to locate the position of the bulb in the headlight unit are spaced equally, i.e. every 120 degrees. I'd check to see with your manual or cradley kawasaki first to determine your connectors because a poorly aimed beam will piss people off no end.
It MAY be cheap if you buy from china, but you've got to remember that if it does go wrong, it'll cock up big time. Secondly, you might get stung with Customs charges. My HID's on my 6R cost me 30 quid inc delivery, but now, since the exchange rates don' favour the pound, they've gone up to 40 inc del... So i opted for a UK seller. Digital ballast = plug and play - literally 2 wires!

Yes, you are telling the right word. And You have explain it very nicely.
A High Intensity Discharge or HID Kit gives a facelift to your old or new motorbike, car, truck, etc. through better quality illumination to hit the road with great amount of confidence.
