off road bikes on road....rules???

im looking for something i can use on and off the road and have Ive been looking at these bikes.. in particular the 230F anf the 250X models.

whilst i think the 230f comes with head/tails lights, i cant see any versions of any of the 250 models which come with a head light and tail light as a minimum.

I know most bikes of this type dont normally indys/lights as they are for off road use. but just wondering if there are any crfs which come fitted with the above so the bikes can be used on the road aswell?

and to those of you that use your off roaders on the road aswell....what is the bare minuimun you need to have fitted for a full road mot?

You do realise the CRF250F and 250X are very different bikes, yes?

Don't know what they come with as standard, but generally isn't a big problem to fit them after.

All the KTMs etc come with the option of the lights as standard.

Vehicle lighting requirements are a bit stricter than the MOT link would suggest.

Basically if you have a rear light then pretty much every other light becomes compulsory. You might get away without indictors for an off road bike where A vehicle which is constructed or adapted primarily for use off roads (whether by reason of its tyres, suspension, ground clearance or otherwise) and which can carry only one person.

Whilst we are on the subject of crf's - Ive recently noticed that in the WEC (world enduro championship) there is a few crf - 'e'

What is the E version ? I know there is an crf-x and a crf-r

Any one know the difference ? I pressume the e is a less tuned version of the motocross version, and with working lights ??

Not sure about the 'e'.

The CRF-x is a full on (relatively) highly tuned competition enduro bike.
The CRF-230f is a lowly tuned, low (in height) trail bike.

Like comparing a stock CB500 to a Honda RS250 GP bike.
With a good rider on the 'lesser' bike, they may well be faster than an average rider on the good bike.
However, one bike is going to be a fair bit faster in most situations, but also require a lot more maintenance to ensure it's reliable.

Personally, if you have got much experience riding off-road, I'd reccomend a bigger cc 2 stroke. Unless you treat the throttle as a switch, in which case you may die... but then the CRF250X isn't that slow if you 'try' either.

Thanks to the power of google typing honda.co.uk, I can confirm that the CRF250X is indeed the enduro, while the CRF250R is the motocross version.
