 |
|
4 minors.
Because of the snow last week my 3-day course was turned into a two day course.
I was pretty skeptical about the liklihood of passing, and after getting yelled at by my instructor and seeming like an absolute noob on the GS500, it seemd pretty unlikely.
However, this morning I just bucked up, had a red bull or two, got my head in the game and, I passed!
Forgotten how lovely the feeling is, took my car test a while back.
Anyway.
I wanted to get a mid-range bike, so I'm looking at the 600cc market. And would love to have some input from you guys about it if possible.
I've looked at a few in the range, the SV650S, the R6, the FZ6 and the GSX650f.
Yamaha YZF-R6
I've looked at the R6, it is nice. But the MPG's I'll be getting and the insurance grouping don't really warrant the purchase I don't think. Perhaps if I had a few years no claims and was done at Uni, It would be a more viable option.
Suzuki SV650S
Nice bike. Low insurance, good amount of power and nice fuel consumption.
Yamaha FZ6
Another nice bike, pretty much matches the SV650s in most categories, Though I think it's better looking. Only downside is a slightly higher insurance group.
Suzuki GSX650F
Like this bike alot, it kind of falls between the above two but goes along the Sport line, but without the higher prices associated with bikes like the R6 mentioned above.
I've done a little research but correct me if I'm wrong.
What I'm looking for is something sporty looking but practical in terms of efficiency. I sold my car to save money on petrol, don't want to go back to £60 a week on juice.
If there are any bikes I should consider please let me know.
I'm just a little too excited right now and am trying to think as clearly as possible. |

I picked up a '98 CB500 having taken my course on a GS500, and I think it's been a good choice- it's mileage is good, it's predictable and is as good through town traffic as my CG125 was.
And when you get heavy with the right hand, it really does shift and manages to do so without scaring me too much, and I'm a proper wuss ____________________ '11 CBF1000A, '99 C90, '98 CB500
silky666: He rode amazingly well considering his bike is the weight of a small van and had slicks on. |
